Ok so Saturday I ate half of a poppy seed bagel and today I took a pre-employment drug test. Will that cause a false positive? I have never abused my body and I really need this job!

You would have had to have eaten quite a lot of poppy seeds to get a positive. I was in Russia several years ago and almost every type of roll or muffin that I was served had poppy seeds on it.
Upon my return to the States, I was chosen for a "random" screening at work (I was a truck driver at the time) and I passed.

You'd have to eat a whole lot of poppy seeds to come up dirty, and it depends on what kind of drugs test its for, too. If you did eat a whole lot of poppy seeds, you'd only come up dirty for Heroin. And since you didn't, you have nothing to worry about =)

lame. all u know is heroin is derived from poppy seeds so u freak out. Do u think poppy seeds would be legal or used in muffins & bagels?

I don't know the answer, but if you fail the test you should explain what happened. Hopefully they'll let you take another drug test.
