If we emerged from a pool of primordial ooze after being struck by lightening and created by mere chance. What chance is it that we are on this Earth for a purpose. We live, we die, we become extinct. For no purpose unless we evolve into a higher life form which seems unlikely. It seems we have stretched eveloution to our limit. It is more likely the cockroach will take over from here. How many say we can take it one more notch and how many are for the cockroach?

It's true that if something drastic were to happen to our environment we would all die off and it would be left to smaller, more adaptable creatures, cockroaches for instance, to repopulate the earth. Evolution would take an entirely different course from there.

What's your question exactly? If we emerged from ooze, what are the chances that we have no purpose? 100% that we have NO purpose.

If you're trying to use this to show that God must have created people, there's two arguments against that: 1.) just because the existence of God would give us a purpose, who says we have a purpose? Just because we want to feel like our lives have a grand meaning behind it doesn't make it so. 2.) Even if the ooze theory is implausible and untrue, that in no way makes the claims of any religion any more likely to be true. Every religion's story about the creation of the universe and humankind and all the other associated beliefs are all very silly and far fetched.

Who says the earth is here for a purpose, or humans either, for that matter. A rock lies in a remote desert, or on the bottom of the sea - is it there for a purpose? No, it's just there. Why does there have to be a purpose for that rock. Or for the earth? Or for humans?

As for cockroaches, I think there is verifiable evidence that some humans have already evolved into cockroaches, and they are taking over. Some are in our jails. Some are in our White House. :)

I dont think we were put here for a purpose. I dont think that anything is here for a purpose (its not the say that I'm not glad we and everything else is here.. I just dont believe in like "Gods Plan"). Now just because there was no master plan that got us here doesnt mean that cockroaches will take over. We still have a higher level of mental capacity. They will probably out live us though.

You're right, except that evolution doesn't require a "higher" form, just a different one. And yeah, life is pure chance - no higher purpose required.

As for cockroaches, they are great at adapting, so they may beat us yet :)

I don't know! I think that when this Earth "flip" occurs that we will have to take life one notch further because the scientist asy that we will have this nerve clinching enlightenment that will open us up to that next level! check this out! go to google and type in Earth flip and read that, it's about this event that will most likely occur in 2012 that will change life all together! and then you be the judge..

Evolution of the the modern human stopped because God has perfected our design along with all other life forms on Earth to coexist with each other. The only evolution we will now see are the inferior life forms and freaks of nature that our human scientists will create in their laboratories. Which we will regret we ever made.

If our species can get multiplanetary before blowing ourselves up, I'll take the humans, otherwise the cockroach.

There is no purpose to life, but to live it as best you can. Make every day count, love as much as you can, help as much as you can, learn as much as you can and leave behind a beautiful legacy for your loved ones. I don't believe that evolution is done with us, but we have influenced it by our technology making life much easier. I don't have a clue what's in store and I won't live long enough to know...nor will anyone else.
