"six-pack" or "ripped abs" is more of a fashion statement than a fitness statement.the key to having 6 pac abs is a good combination of diet, exercise and discipline to do what you have set to do.
1.with exercise, i advise you to a lot of cardio ,skips ,runs,jogs ,cycles and good time in tread(atleast 45mins -1 hour).
2.r u obese or normal.if u r obese u ought to do all the above for six days a week and on sundays go for a great swim.
3.you will not see a 6 pac abs unless you get rid those fats which is covering your abs of 6 pac(yes!,you already have a six pac tucked under u r fatty tyre)thats why i suggested u to follow step 1 and 2.
4.diet is very important-its important because no matter how hard you work if you dont put importance in what you put into your mouth, all your hard work would just be in vain. whenever i can, i try to load up on protein and vegetables. my protein sources include soymilk, fish, chicken and eggs. if your not a vegetarian, start small.. then work up to really enjoying a nice plate of greens. salads make you feel full but its easily processed in our stomachs so it doesnt stay "there" for a long time. also get yourself to try tea... it helps with 'upping' your metabolism rate, a good companion to exercising.
5.finally,do abs workout along with the above exercises.if have"nt been to a gym,then its the perfect time to enter that excelent heaven(gym) now,right away literally!
6.whether u are obese or just as normal,dont forget that along with those abs you"ll get other benefits when u start a life in a gym.(good shape,stamina level to a "wow" level,good mental attitude,and a great confident in u).
by the way, if and when you get the "ripped abs" be prepared for getting LOTS of attention when you've got your shirt off in a beach or in a pool.

Ok first you need to stop eating junk food so every night you need to do at least 30 crunches
hold leg lifts for at least 1 min
do each these 2 a day you'll be sore but you will get a 6 pack
