The now-famous Vatican Hill (Latin Collis Vaticanus) is northwest of the Tiber and is not one of the Seven Hills of Rome. Likewise, the Pincian Hill (Latin Mons Pincius), to the north, and the Janiculum Hill (Latin Ianiculum), to the west, are not counted among the traditional Seven Hills.

Of the Seven Hills of current Rome, five (Aventine, Caelian, Esquiline, Quirinal and Viminal hills) are populated with monuments, buildings, and parks. The Capitoline now hosts the Municipality of Rome, and the Palatine Hill is an archaeological area. Note that the Vatican hill is not one of the "seven hills" of Rome, as it is located on the opposite side of the river Tiber.

The city of Constantinople (now Istanbul) was built on seven hills, after the city of Rome.

So how can you say the Catholic Church is the one mentioned in Revelations?

good point.....some people decided the pope was the anti-christ and then set out to prove it, rather than analyzing scripture and using the facts to make a decision

......there is a woman (mystery babylon) who sits on 7 hills but she represents a false world religious system....this system is not the same as the beast., who is the anti-christ....the woman is a combination of new age, witchcraft, and the occult.

the anti-chirst is well described in Daniel....and it is the revived greecian empire, not roman empire. the city of rome may have a role but it does not mean the beast is an italian. currently, there is a "club of rome" which is a group of world leaders. Turkey will be part of this beast.

currently, the current territory represented by a map of the ancient greecian empire is occupied by islamic nations...so the beast has to be a muslim, not a catholic.

PS...if Istanbul has 7 hills too...the woman could also be the real babylon ( iraq) whose head is in Istanbul, which is consistent with the daniel prophesy

Constantinople is named after Emperor Constantine who was the Emperor of Rome and THEN became the first Emperor of the Roman Catholic Church. Constantinople was the First central City for The Roman Catholic Church and then was moved to Rome. The Vatican had a standing army. The Vatican is still a seperate city/state with their own ambassadors. Daniel 11:36-38. According to the Catholic Catechism, he takes the place of Christ on earth. Often reinterpreting scriptures and instituting catechism as more authoritative over the Biblical meanings. They worship and pray to Mary as an equal to Christ. Revelation 22:8.

The Pope also wears the Latin numerals 666 in his hat, ring and sash....Vicarius Fili Dei, roughly translates to The Vicar of Christ. Taking the Latin wording and adding up it's numeric Value...

The Roman Catholic Church literally had a Theocracy and a theocratic government that involved almost all of the western Civilized world. The Roman Catholic Church changed the Sabbath Day, the calender. An edict was legislated that Sabbath Worhsip was legally banned by the Pope, instituting a Sunday worship law.

According to Foxe's Book of Christian Martys by John Foxe it was in Fact the Catholic Church that dominated governments and put people to death for supposed heresies and Disobedience to Papal edicts and Law. That did not Change until King Henry the 8th wanted a divorce and the Pope would not allow it..the Church of England became the new church theocracy. It was The Catholic Church that gave its permission for slavery in the New World and the persecution of Jews throughout Europe. The Roman Catholic church has never apologised for slavery in the New World and benefitted greatly from it.

Martin Luther started identifying chacracteristic traits and wrote the the thesis decrying acts by the Roman Catholic Church and forged the beginnings of the Protestant churches

I've never known the Catholic Church to be the one being talked about concerning the "seven hills of Rome". Granted, the Vatican City is near there, but for the purpose of Rome serving as the ruling seat of power for the Antichrist, I doubt the Antichrist will be the Pope. With Hinduism and Buddhism and etc. being larger even than Catholicism, I doubt that even a singular ruler as the Pope would be able to be deft enough even with Satan's help at reining in ALL the world's major religions. Besides, the religion of the world during that time being thrust upon us from Rome will most likely be an amalgam of all sorts of faiths in order to placate all the individual leaders of each faith. Adolf Hitler, of all people, said it best...."The best lie has just enough TRUTH in it to make it palatable."

Because there are many, many other characteristics which identify it. The "seven hills" part applied to Papal Rome at the time of John's writing. The current church traces its roots to the seven hills of Rome.

Just one other characteristic... Check out the colors associated with the harlot woman of Revelation and then check out the colors worn by the hierarchy of Papal Rome. And, what other religion was drunk on the blood of the martyrs?

The city on seven hills is definitely a reference to Rome, but it has nothing to do with the Catholic church. They're the ones who wrote Revelation.
