Yes you can. The only reason the instructors will look down on you is.... well they always look down on you, you'll be in the "leaning rest" to often for them not to be looking down on you.

You qualify to go to BUD/S based on your MOS, fitness test, and physical evaluation. You may not become an officer with just a GED - but I think the chicks dig the "cracker jacks" more anyway.

Good luck - start running every day, I think that is the hardest part.

the Navy will not accept anyone with just a GED, period. all GEDs ( and most Home schoolers( will also require 15 100 level credits. and even if you get the 15 100 level college credits, SO is still closed to you. SO candidates MUST Have a regular high school diploma. failing that, a 2 year degree minimum.

than you are getting it for a VERY STUPID REASON> if you can't drive through and finish the commitment to high school even if it sucks, howinhell do you expect to get through BUD/s?!

GEDs are looked down on for a very good reason: the vast majority of GED holders are statistically NOT going to finish their first term of enlistment. something like 72% of GED holders never finish their first term, so yeah, you will not be looked at favorably.

the Navy accepts very few GED holders period, and your job choices will be more limited. in fact, you may not even qualify for SpecWar period.

and for those that say a GED is not a factor: WRONG. GED holders must score a 50 on the ASVAB as opposed to a 35 to even qualify to get in, let alone for a specific rating. GED holders who max out the ASVAB still do NOT QUALIFY for Nuke, so yes, having just a GED is a major obstacle when it comes to getting a rating.

a GED has nothing to do with the job you get in any branch of the military. the scores they look at is the ASVAB scores. a GED wont effect you in any way in your military career, even when applying for a commission. basically what happens now-a-days is, you take your ASVAB and get a job in what ever your scores allow you to qualify for. either you get guarnteed SEAL as your job or you go to basic training in what ever you want. at any point in your military career you can "cross train" to SEALs or special forces.

the reason for that is the special forces in any branch are always undermanned due to the high demands of the job itself, so they will take anyone that can complete the training.

good luck
