God is God. It does not make one iota of difference what we refer to God as.

No, it does not matter at all. I usually say the Source or the Creator or just plain 'God'. Anything else is a construct by humans and only meaningful because we say it is. But here is a hint... think about this.. almost all names for a most high single creator called God have one common sound in common.. aaaaahhhh.. Allah, Jehovah, Buddha, Maya, Tao, Yahweh. See what I mean.. all have the ah sound.

Well are you a christian? if so, you should follow what Jesus did. He gave us the "Our father" prayer, as it's called today. Get a Bible and look at it in Matthew 6:9,10. That first thing it says is "let your name be sanctified" or "hallowed be thy name". So this was obviously important to Jesus. Now if you look at Psalms 83:18(Middle of the Bible) It tells you what that name is. This is important and you need to know what pleases God so please continue asking questions to trustable people and don't except answers that aren't from the Bible.

Because the name defines the thing.

The unnamable is the eternally real.
Naming is the origin
of all particular things.

In some mythologies, you have many things - like swords. But then you have a named sword, it's always a more powerful sword because the name imbues it with certain qualities.

The name of the deity defines certain things about that deity, and everyone wants their version to be right, so they care very much what it is called. A deity "X" has certain qualities, which may be close to deity "Y" but they are not the same idea.

I prefer a more abstract concept, myself.

Nope. It does not. Whether you have "religion" or not, the Higher Being will always be the Higher Being no matter what culture you come from. The term "religion" is used by everyone and known mostly in Westernized countires but the form of "religion" has different words that mean the same things that are present in other non-Westernized countries/places.

God name is important if you are a priest of a religion and want to impose your view over others, giving a name to God only helps to discard other religions as true.

Now since Gos is all, God receives all the names, thus is unimportant how you call it as long as it is with respect.

No it doesn't matter as long as you are talking to the One God and that you are repectfull, the Hebrews had many names for Him including the unwritten name, Elohim and Adonai.

It's not . Just depends on what is in the religion. It's a popularity contest of some kind . i know i think people should just go in the religion and worship God for what he does for us. We shouldn't really matter his real name. When we die and go to heaven he might share his serect. Why get so caught up in names. We should get caught up in worship .

Its important to respect others views on their "God" the same way you would expect others to respect your view on the "God" you worship. There are those who just simply get upset if the word God is typed, "god" They see that as a false worship. When typing the word God, if one puts it in lower case letters religious folllowers see that as a disrespect for their God. My thoughts, as long you are following something good and pure, it doesn't matter how you title it. God still hears you if you call him god. Just my opinion.

In my opinion, "God" is anything you would like it to be. With the Christian religion they call this force, or whatever God. But others believe the earth is God, and other religions believe in many Gods. So its all based on a personal stance when it all comes down to it.

God gave his name to his chosen people.

It is YHWH, or Jehovah, in the modern English. And it appears over 7,000 times in the Old Testament.

It is important because it is a priveledge to be allowed to call him by name.
