I'm thinking about getting an lcd tv to go with my new ps2 slim but does it make enough difference to buy it over a crt tv or not? Does it all look the same or what? Help me out here...

Very little difference if any on most games, the newer ones there might be one.

It depends on two things. First, what resolution does the TV have? If it is an HDTV LCD then the picture will be no different or maybe even a little better, as HDTV's have better picture quality than old CRT tvs do. The second thing is kinda dependent on the first. Is the game HD? While I don't know much about the PS2 I do know quite a bit about the Xbox, and only a few games were programmed in an HD resolution whether it was 720p, 1080i, or 1080p. If the game isn't programmed in HD then the picture will once again be the same or maybe a little better, but not much.

Unlike a CRT (which can use a variable size and number of pixels), an LCD has an exact number of pixels, which is its highest resolution. That means that if you run a signal that isn't HD on an HD LCD tv, it won't look very good since some of the pixels have to be duplicated or interpolated. An HD CRT doesn't have this problem, but they don't seem to make them anymore.
