Unfortunately, no. We are getting ready to move and I just don't have time for hunting this year. But next year I plan to be hunting in Texas. Small but plentiful deer. I've got a new .45-120 rifle that I want to hunt with. No, I am not going to load it up full power, I will load it down so I still have some edible venison left. Have fun in the woods. I envy you.

It is with great sadness that I wright this response. I am going on a week long business trip the week before deer season and my wife will be looking to shoot me if I take any of the next week to "go play in the woods." If only I had not given her the combo to the gun safe...
Frankie B, why don't you try to go pet that 10 pointer JD spotted. We will see how defenseless they really are.

No time for hunting - too much work as a corporate slave....but I am more then willing to help eat some meat - LOL - I havent had a good taste of venison in at least three years. If you get some left over let me know....be happy to pay for shipping and handling.

Nope.
But wish I was. Guess I'll have to settle on fixing my paintball gun and marking a few in pink, yellow, and blue!!
The folks who think deer are pretty and all, go check on the losses to agriculture and vehicles from deer, and the cost of the injuries and lives lost to deer in the roadway; they are NOT innocent Bambies, my friends.
I have had two cars damaged to the tune of hundreds of dollars and a nice and useful van smashed beyond reasonable repair, by deer in the roadways, and by them not being smart enough not to lower their heads and charge my on-coming, at legal speeds, vehicles.
I also have had my gardens, both veggies and flowers, eaten off to the roots by deer, who will break down fences to get at the flowers especially. Lost hundreds of dollars in spring flowers where the deer destroyed fences to get in. Deer may be pretty, but flowers are beautiful...and expensive.
My neighbors have told how deer break into their hay storage, and often kill themselves as well as damaging fences and containers, when there is plenty of grass around..they want the expensive hay. One neighbor found a deer hanging on a partly-destroyed shed door, having broken two legs trying to break in, and not being able then even to get away. Had to have animal control come out and shoot it, as it was not in-season!
And of course, the meat was wasted, not even offered to the poor who need meat.
We have about 25 deer in a herd around my place, wrecking gardens, getting hit in the road, trampling grass and flowers, etc. Way way too many for this little area.
They need to be drastically thinned, but the license and take limitations prevent anybody from taking care of the massive destruction they are causing.
Deer are pretty, out in a woods. They are the most ugly things up close eating up your tulips and daffodils, even to digging up the bulbs with their hooves and leaving a total mess.
Or eating up all the budding limbs on your expensive fruit trees and berry bushes.
Yeah, we have some big bucks, but lots of does too, who have lot and lots of fawns, all of which destroy vehicles, plantings, and injure people.
We need to get control, even here in the plains, of the overabundance of deer who have lost their fear of humans and cars, and freeload and get hit.
Dunno if the Bambi lovers ever stop to think how a deer suffers when it races a car across the road and loses a leg...and dies on the side. And I do not think the solution is to eliminate vehicles!!
And I never hear them cry for the people who are killed when deer run in front of cars on the open road.
Deer are nice, in their place. I like venison, and wish I had the price of my flower gardens back in the meat! I think I read that vehicle-deer accidents cost the people of my state about 3 million dollars a year.
I have a truck driver friend who had an elk, for a change, jump right in front of him in the country, and did $10,000 damage to his truck, let alone his losses in cargo while it was repaired.
And to add insult to injury, the police tagged him for "hunting with a vehicle out of season"...it's the law!
We have many many tons of good meat killed by the animals going out in front of cars, and nobody is allowed to salvage it, and the Bambi Lovers will not even allow taller fences along the dangerous parts of the road, because they would "restrict" the animal's enjoyment. Balderdash!!
