Some gain because they eat comfort food. Others lose because they don't eat much. It depends on the person.

everyone is different. I eat when I am worried. Also, the medicine (paxil) I take for depression has caused me to put on some weight. Some people do just the opposite and lose weight when they are depressed/stressed. Try taking a long walk if you can when that feeling of doom starts. It really helps me, your natural opiods,"dopamine" kicks in, helps relieve alot of the symptoms and your getting some exercise also. Good Luck. dont be afraid to go to a Dr. if your depression persist. I cant take care of mine naturally, I need some extra help. I tried for yrs to do it on my own. I finally gave in and got some much needed help.l

I think it go either way. But I think you gain more weight when you're depressed and lose weight when you're stressed. But like I said before, it can go either way.

I mostly gain, but if I start losing weight during a bout of depr, watch out. It's really serious. Lost 30 lbs. one time. Until I felt better enough to eat.

Either.
Sometimes when people end up going in the deep hole of depression and all they end up doing is sit in one place, will not socialize, will avoid contact, zero activity and lot of food.
In such a scenarion, there is tremendous weight gain.
In case of severe stress and depression (divorce, trauma, death of loved one), peole end up loosing weight.

Most often food is used to comfort and make safe.
Some people lose their appetite because they are bored.
