Greetings Kim!

I came to Canada many years ago and the cold winters were one of the things that I worried about, but I realized once I arrived here that Canada has beautiful winters! Honest!

I live in South Western Ontario - if you look at a map of Canada you will see that it is the part that sticks out into the Great Lakes.

This area has beautiful summers with hardly any rain, the Autumns are breathtakingly beautiful as the the trees turn such lovely shades before they fall, winter can be cold (that is for sure) but the cold does not keep people in except when there is a blizzard! We go for walks in the snow, we ski, we skate and our homes, stores and cars are all heated.

I love this area so much that I built a website to tell tourists and people moving here about the area - http://www.discover-southern-ontario.com/index.html

Good Luck!

Relax ... it's not that bad. We don't live in igloos or drive dogsleds. Millions of people actually survive the cold every year and don't get eaten by polar bears. I suggest you spend some time on Google and do some intensive research. If you start the Canadian immigration procedures and tell them some of the old wives's tales you've heard about Canada they may suggest you look elsewhere. Good luck!!

are you joking? DO you think we do monthly shopping and hide in our homes the rest of the time! You do realize that we're not alaska or the south pole. Many of our cities border US cities and share practically the same climate as New York Detroit Washington Michigan !
penquin is absolutly right ! He has my vote !

You should emigrate to a nice city like Inuvik. It hardly ever gets cold there.

Hi.
British Columbia won't be a bad place to live with the cold. It rains a lot, but It is usually warm. In the winter there will be snow, though.

I felt like that when we arrived as immigrants in February, in Halifax. You can get used to anything!
