Could s/he end up living to see the year 2050 maybe or even beyond

Prob about 2035 or so

most WW2 vets are in their 80's now, so unless there's some really big breakthrough in the pharmaceutical industry that can reverse the aging process, 2050 is about 40 years, so most would be about 120 years old. Not likely.

By the way, I'm a big Band of Brothers fan, and in the extras on the DVD, it said the Airborne guys still go over to Normandy and jump out of those original/replica transport planes every ten years, just like on D-day. June 6, 2006 was the 60 year anniversary and they looked pretty old to be jumping out of airplanes. Pretty amazing though, I think.

Well, if you figure a 17-year old enlisting at the tail end of the war, say 1945, that person was born in 1928. Doubt if he or she would see much past 2033 at best...

I hope not soon. My father is a Second World War veteran. He did not see any combat, as his unit (13th Airborne) was never sent into combat, but he is still a hero to me.
