DJ is correct in his description. By Firearms Industry Standards a "frosty bore" is when 50% or more of the "Original" rifling is gone thru extensive firing or use of corrosive ammunition or BOTH.

It's a common term in Milsurp collecting that means the bore has been lightly pitted (frosted) over the years from corrosive ammo and improper cleaning.

As long as the lands and groves are ok and the muzzle crown is good, it should shoot straight.

I have a few 95 Stutzens. They are the worst shoulder bruisers ever and I shoot a lot of milsurps. More than the Mosin carbines, more than 8mm, maybe even more than 300 magnums. They are small light carbines that shoot a hot full powered rifle load. Plan on using a slip on recoil pad and expect huge fireballs if using surplus ammo.

You know you have to have clips to use Mannlicher magazine rifles.....make sure you order or get clips with you ammo and save them, they are sometimes hard to find and without them, you have a single shot rifle.

Lousey looking barrel inside but if rifling is sharp it is still a good shooter. I have a number of Mauser rifles with dark or frosty bores that put out a five shot group at a hundred yards you can cover with a fifty cent piece.
