The secret to faith is the same as any relationship.
Spend time with God as you spend time with any relationship.
Spend time in the word and in prayer and meditation.
Develop a personal relationship with God.

It would help if we had some idea of what questions you have about your faith.

My first bit of advice is that you should not confuse faith with religion.

Faith is your love for God. It is something that all people have and need, whether they call it 'God' or not. Even atheists have faith in something, because they wouldn't be human if they didn't.

Religion is the hierarchichal framework of rules and stories and politics which people institute to mold faith in the ways that they want.

Faith is individual; religion can be shared by many.

So I think you should ask yourself if the issues you have with Christ are born out of the religion or out of your individual perception of him.

If your issues are with the religion, then you have no real problem with faith. Religions are created by people; they do not come from God. God does not need religion.

If your issues are with faith itself, that's a much deeper concern, and I am not learned enough to help you much with that. My only advice would be that you eliminate from your prayer all ideas which are man-made and concentrate just on God. God is love, and that's all that really matters, I think.

One last idea to think about--Prayer is about listening, not asking.

The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much, James 5:16. You have it. Prayer, focusing on God's word, and finding someone to talk to are what you need. I would suggest talking to a friend or email a buddy that is a Christian. Having a like minded person to talk to is a big help. The main thing is to never give up because no matter how bad it may be, God will help you in the end, Romans 8:28.

Research Christianity and other religions from a spiritual, historical and unbiased views. You have to truly know why you believe something. Just because your pastor teaches about their perception on Christianity, doesn't mean that it is necessarily true. Basically, just because someone tells you something, doesn't mean it's true. You must find your own truth. This may well be the christian religion, but it must be YOUR truth. Do your research and follow your heart. Faith doesn't mean you always feel something or never falter or waiver. You must seek truth.

In addition to praying, you can read the Bible everyday, you can listen to inspirational music, you can read Christian related articles/magazines, you can purchase actor Willie Aames new book "Grace Is Enough", a book on how he came to find God and develope a faith with Him, just realizing that God's will is going to take place on His OWN timeline, and their isn't going to be instant gratification most of the time. And just live a good Christian life. If we live a good Christian life, then our faith will be restored. Things won't always happen as we like, but then, it's not our own life; it's about the life God intended for us to have. Not easy, I know. I been guilty of taking charge oy own life, and lacking faith, and saw where it got me! So I learned now to put everything in the Lord's hands, and if things don't happen as I like, I learned someday I will understand why.

Use this opportunity to hear a variety of faith stories. You might seek out people who have had a long and varied faith journey. It might also be a good time to read autobiographies of people who have struggled. Ask your pastor to recommend a counselor who won't try to proseletyze or reason you out of your faith. If your friends are very devout, you might find it difficult to be around them, but seek out some people who have also struggled, come through it and won't judge you.

If you are having problems in your life right now (unemployment, illness of a loved one, a medical issue), do not try to force yourself to do too much

Try to find supportive people who will respect your struggle and who will pray for you while giving you some space to work things out.

He is a God, not of the dead, but of the living, for they are all living to him.” This, therefore, I say and bear witness to in[the Lord, that you no longer go on walking just as the nations also walk in the unprofitableness of their minds, while they are in darkness mentally, and alienated from the life that belongs to God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the insensibility of their hearts. Having come to be past all moral sense, they gave themselves over to loose conduct to work uncleanness of every sort with greediness. But you did not learn the Christ to be so, provided, indeed, that you heard him and were taught by means of him, just as truth is in Jesus, that you should put away the old personality which conforms to your former course of conduct and which is being corrupted according to his deceptive desires; but that you should be made new in the force actuating your mind, and should put on the new personality which was created according to God’s will in true righteousness and loyalty.

Yes, there is much you can do to increase your faith, in God. Seek God! Seek Him when you do pray, seek Him in scriptures and with your heart! I am assuming that you do believe in God because you obviously, are seeking to deepen your faith. Truly, through His Word, whether you are reading the Bible or, listening to a sermon, meditate upon the Word of God and you will learn much and your faith will grow.

I am grateful that you brought your concern, and I will be in prayer for your faith walk with the Lord to deepen as He desires all to walk and talk with Him.

Blessings,
Gail

see, there is many things that you can do...but faith in christ is not found in a man...it is God given and he is the source.

The only thing you can really do is pray, but not just faint words, pray as if the gates of hell were opening at your feet and welcoming you in, if there is no assurance or increasing measures of faith you have to choices, pray or cease praying and then reject God and faith and God to hell...
