How about 1+1=2 How do you know it's right?

The wrong answers will be, because someone told you so; be it your father, mother , teacher, butcher, baker or the candlesticks maker.

If you can see it as it is so for yourself and it's not because someone pulled rank on you with titles and authority to enforce their will on you - you are being hynoptized and robbed from discovering Truth for yourself and has become a puppet on someone's string!

So what's the right answer?

Could it be that, Truth is something you have always known in your heart; given to you by your Creator, but Men's education have educated and robbed you away from the truth that's in your heart from the very beginning when you were born and replaced it with rote and dead knowledge (through words and language)?

Nobody Important, have you heard of Man exchanging his life of immortality for the gain of the Knowledge from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil and become "AS" God ?

Nobody Important,

Have you consider the fact that there are means of communication beside the ones Earthling are used to?

Just remember God is a Spiritual Being living in both dimension the Spiritual and the Mundane-natural world. Or, do you Know?

Gatita 6,

Much of what you say can be true and yet Truth can still elude from your experience even after hearing "Truth" taught and preached whoever the man might be; a pastor , a priest or a thief or for that matter a prostitute.

Be it known to you that the world are full of men and women who would lead you away from TRUTH with "truth"

What men must look for are for human being who will acts as God's conduit to lead others to The Truth and back away from them.
Lead them to the DOOR (The TRUTH) and those who are lead to the Truth must walks in themselves. If only more Christian preachers acts like this, more people would have walk in to the DOOR and find HIM (Jesus)

The measure of truth for myself, as a Christian, is whether what is being said or preached lines up with the Bible, the source of all truth. We have the guidance of the Holy Spirit who will lead and guide us into all truth. Rely upon Him and study the Word and you will be able to discern the truth from a lie. Also, pray and ask for guidance from God and He will reveal the truth to you.

This question made no more sense than when you asked it yesterday.

How about because when I take one thing, and add another thing to it, I have two things? I don't need authority to tell me that, it's right in front of my eyes and easily provable! Truth is the truth because it's ****ing obvious.

It's pretty sad that you honestly think that being educated is a negative thing, because when people can think critically they have a tough time believing in your invisible sky daddy. WHAT SAY YOU?

ADDENDUM: If you claim the supernatural, then all bets are off. If you want to do so, then my claiming that the Flying Spaghetti Monster will eventually bless me with a stripper factory and beer volcano is no less valid than your claim about 'alternate means of communication' and trees of knowledge. Just because your old book said something doesn't make it true, even if you believe really REALLY hard. That's 'common sense', no?

The problem is that something is not a truth until it has additional confirmations, its just a rumor.

I listen to someone teach the gospel of their own opinion and accord every Sunday. I don't take any of it as prophecy or absolute truth unless I can get confirmation of that truth through my Heavenly Father. He will confirm the truths and debunk the lies if you ask it of Him. Some call it challenging God but I trust no man but Him..."In God we trust, all the rest pay cash":-)

If you go through life trusting in others beliefs and interpretations to be your own, someday you may find that the wool is pulled from your eyes and you will find it to be different from the truth. Then what? Caught with your pants down huh? The scripture parable about building your house upon the rocks and not the sand is just exactly that...build your testimony from concrete knowledge. Faith helps to get the answers as some things are not revealed until you have faith in them but the mortar that holds the foundation blocks together come directly from God.

Whatever.

1+1=2 is easily provable for yourself. Here, have one apple. You now have one apple. Here, take another apple. Now you've got two apples. If you can count, it's pretty obvious how people came up with the conclusion 1+1=2.

However, I do agree on this aspect: People kept trying to tell me God was real. But I could not prove that for myself, so I don't believe. I'm no puppet. :)

I don't know, when I first hear someone speak it. That would be a foolish rush to judgement.

I begin to have confidence in a statement when I find that it's logically consistent and checks out with well-attested facts.

"All human knowledge is tainted with an 'ideological' taint. It pretends to be more true than it is. It is finite knowledge gained from a particular perspective; but it pretends to be final and ultimate knowledge." - Reinhold Niebuhr

Peace to you.

Men deal in a world of facts. Truth is something higher, something greater.
It is a fact that a Mercedes is expensive. It is a fact that you can get one colored white.
It is truth that the power of Jesus Christ is very real for those who believe on him.
