You can date it back by saying Jesus lived 2000yr ago and then look in Mark (i think) to gt his family tree and dating that back.

All Christians should believe this because,
If Christians dont believe in the bible then, why should anyone else.

Read Genesis.
Does it say that Adam and Eve were the First Human Beings GOD Created?
There are Two Creation Accounts in Genesis.
Does the Bible say the First One is the Same as the Second One?

I Believe it has been about 6,000 years since Adam.

I Believe the Earth is 4 to 5 Billion Years Old.

But look, it Dosen't Matter when it Comes to Getting Saved and Going to Heaven!

All Ya Gotta' Get Right is ROMANS 10:9----

That's all ya gotta' do to go to Heaven.
EveryThing Else can be Wrong, but THAT has to be Right.

Jesus is Lord
Jesus is GOD
Jesus Became a Man (born of a Woman)
Jesus Died on the Cross
Jesus was Raised from the Dead by The Father Above (GOD)
Jesus Loves You

Do it! :)

Biblical Dating puts the world as a young earth about 6000-8000 years old. The main argument against is carbon dating which has no control to test against so all dates are presumed and items have been dated such as bones which come 10,000 years old and the animal dies the day before. Also geological dating puts it an an old earth because of erosion based on the theory a little bit of water over a long period of time, where as the same results have been proved from a large amount of water over a short time, which in turn will hold up the theory of a global flood, of which all main religions hold to either a global or local flood which covered the land scape.

The bible has the answers for the questions if you approach it without an assumption to it being incorrect.

Well using the bible, a book that was written by man and men make mistakes all the time (I am a man too), it is possible it might not be right. But before you say I don't believe in God I'm a Christian. Scientist have dated the earth to be roughly 4 billion years and this greatly out dates 6000 years.

Other ways science disproves that earth only existed for 6000 years is ancient creatures, such as dinosaurs, live over 65 million years ago. Again this number is bigger then 6000 years ago.

The last reason why earth can't be only 6000 years old is humans have been around for 8000 to 10000 years once again out dating 6000 years.

You can ether accept this or believe what you want but this is what I've learned from school and found on my own.

Just because the bible started 6,000 years ago dosnt mean thats how old the earth is. I mean, there had to be people, with a system for writing and preserving the writings, to write it first. Besides, why couldnt god have just told Moses how he did it?
Science dates the universe to around 13/14 billion years old. There is nothing in the bible that contradicts that, unless somebody decides to ignore all the scientific data and assume the Genesis story is absolutly literal.

In Genesis there is a gap between 1:1 and 1:2. The story of creation is really more a story of recreation. Notice when you read it that there were already materials there. In the story God did not create out of nothing and you cannot use the generational account to determine the age of the Earth, that is a misconception.

Actually, we believe, according to the Hebrew genealogies that life has existed on the earth for approximately 6000 years. If you look at Genesis 1, it is clear the earth was here before life existed on it. We are not told how long.

Gen 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth;
Gen 1:2 and the earth being without form and empty, and darkness on the face of the deep, and the Spirit of God moving gently on the face of the waters,

Getting the age of the Earth that way makes a LOT of assumptions, not the least of which is that one can correctly translate the Hebrew terms used in the "begats". The problem is that the Hebrew used there can mean father, or grandfather, or n-times great grandfather, or uncle, or nephew - and that throws your dating scheme off by quite a bit.

Even beyond that, it presumes that the Hebrew term usually translated as "day" means "24 hours". Interestingly, the same word is used in Jeremiah when it refers to the Day of the Lord being at hand. Do you think that means "the twenty-four hour period of the Lord" is at hand?

And lastly, it's using Scripture for something for which it was not intended. I believe that qualifies as misusing Scripture. Never a good idea at the best of times.

Gen 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
The earth was from the beginning of the creation as stated in Genesis Chapter 1, verse 1.
Read the bible before commenting things which you do not know and understand.
