My sister-in-law just bought a dog & it is to be ACA registered. Is it legitimate?

Just what I thought. When she told me she bought this puppy, my first question to her was," from a backyard breeder?"

Thanks Goldengal. I don't know anything about them either. I didn't even know my sister-in-law was looking for a dog!

JD I asked her if the dog was from a backyard breeder before I even knew it was ACA. Of course everyone knows that AKC also has backyard breeders as well. Sorry if I don't know of anyone that has a ACA registered dog!!!!

I have an ACA dachshund. I have never had any problems with them. I also have never heard of them registering a mixed breed.

As for saying just because the dog is ACA that it is from a puppy mill, that's ridiculous. AKC puppies also come from puppy mills and pet stores. I don't care what anyone says AKC has just as many puppy mill, byb's and pet store puppies as any of the others. The only difference is they have standards that you are supposed to abide by, but none of those 3 care about that.

Weird, Ive never heard of it either???

But thanks to Golden, I guess it is true.
What kind of dog did she get?
Make sure to tell her to keep and eye out for health problems because even though it is ACA registered it still could have come from a BYB,
especially if its not a very known association.

Have a great night, hope to hear from you soon.

its legitimate, it is a registry of mostly puppymills & back yard breeders.

let the buyer beware

any registry that accepts mixed breed dogs is not kosher

this one even has a "code from the pet store" that pays the registration fee
