I have the SAME exact problem as you, I'm even 13 and have the same personality. I myself have just felt depressed lately, mostly due to the ignorance of my friends and my best friend leaving me. It hurts, but you have to be optimistic to get through it. Smile even though you don't want to, it helps.
I wouldn't recommend medication. I don't even think there is any for 13 year olds. Just talk it out with a good friend, a counselor, parent, someone you can trust. Email me if you need more help (Amras710@yahoo.com)

Everyone gets a little lonely or depressed at some point in their life. Sometimes it passes, and sometimes it doesn't. However, I think it would be a better idea to find someone you can really talk to rather than try to get medication so soon. If you don't feel that your friends care or are afraid of speaking up because you're not sure what's wrong, maybe your parents, grandparents, a teacher, counselor, or doctor would be able to lend an ear?
Good luck, and just don't be afraid of talking about this. Things will get better. =)

Don't even consider medication (especially at your age) - it's highly doubtful it's depression anyway. You've probably come up with the answer yourself, maybe you are beginning to mature. It would be helpful if you could talk to someone you trust that is older than you - maybe another family member? Or failing that, does your school have some kind of councilor you could talk to? Or, have a chat with your doctor - at least he/she will confirm you don't have depression. And don't be shy about talking about it - everybody has, or has had, issues of some kind while they are growing up.
Good luck & Take care

I think you're probably Fine... You're Maturing (being a Teen has a LOT of "ups & downs..."), it's Autumn (a naturally Melancholly time of the year- for alot of people), and you're beginning to look for an Identity (an often LONG & confusing Process...). So what to DO? Well, there are NO "medications" to help get you though High School (If there WERE-I would've been on them!)- So you'll just have to find a friend, hang in there, & "tough it out". Like most things, this TOO- shall pass, & you'll be fine... :)

Medicine should be the last resort. Once you start to depend on it, it gets difficult to solve problems on your own. Everyone experiences depression like yours. Like you said it's all a part of growing up. You're at the right age to start feeling emotions outside of childish expectations. You're at the transitional stage between childhood and adolescence. You'll experience stronger feelings as you reach adulthood (18 or 19). It's all a part of shaping you into a functional person. It WILL blow over, especially because it's the type of feeling that has no locatable source.

See depression treatments, at http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris in section 2, shyness in section 9, and read section 13. Normal hormonal fluctuations may account for it, but it would do you no harm, and may well help, to take the Omega 3 fish oil supplements, and practice daily, one of the relaxation techniques on pages 2, 11, 2c, or 2i, and give the EFT a good tryout. Visit your school counselor.

Maybe you were always trying to get everyone in the mood to mask your depression. If you do really have a clinical depression your friends are probobly not going to understand. most people without depression just dont get it. you need to talk with your family doctor. You need to be really honest with him or her and see the best course of action. dont be asking the ignorant people on this site.

You are very young, and part of it is that you are growing up and maturing. Allow your mind to catch up with your body. You do not need any medication, it is called growing pains.

This is not depression. You will snap out of it without taking anything for it,
Find something else to think about.
