Ok, just like last time, answer the riddles and help me get my extra credit in school! This time the deadline in Friday. I will choose best answer between that night and Tuesday night.
1) How many of 21 integers must be odd for the product to be odd?
2) One train leaves Station A at 8AM going 35MPH. Another Train leaves Station B at 9AM going 40MPH. They are headed towards each other. Which will be closer to Station A when they pass?
3) In my drawer are socks galore, in a ratio of 4 to 5 brown to black socks. In the dark, how many socks do I need to pull out to insure that I have a matching pair?
4) What is the significance of the title "Fahrenheit 451", the 1953 Rad Bradbury novel set in a repressive future in which all books are banned?
5) 2 scrabble champions play 5 games of scrabble. Each won and lost the same number of games with no ties. How is this possible?

1. all of the 21 integers must be odd. an integer multiplied to an even integer will be equal to an even integer.
2. both will be as close to Station A.
3. 3. there are only 2 colors of socks, so after pulling 3 you're sure to have a matching pair.
4. The number "451" refers to the temperature (in Fahrenheit) at which a book or paper burns.
5. either they didn't play against each other or they played with a multiplayer (meaning more than 2 players) scrabble game.

1. If any is EVEN, the product will be even (e.g. 2 x anything is even). So all must be odd.
2. When they pass each other, they are the same distance from Station A and also from Station B.
3. 3, if the first two don't match you will have a pair after 3.
4. According to an introduction he wrote, he called the fire department to find out at what temperature paper burns and was told, "451 degrees F."

1. two different odd integers needed for the product to be odd eg 1 X 3. (Philosophically, you would need only one odd integer and multiply it by itself to have an odd product eg 1 X 1)
2. Regardless of distance and the time they left the stations, at the instance they pass each other, both trains will be at the same distance closer to Station A.
3. need to pull out 3 socks at most. on the third sock, you will have a definite pair of either black or brown socks.
4. haven't read the book, so i can't comment.
5. they were playing in different tournaments with different opponents. it is also possible for them to be playing in the same tournament, if the tournament format is a 5 round Swiss System and there are many participants, in which case they will not be facing each other.
