I have dated the guy I'm with now for almost 5 years, we have already been through sickness and heatlh and through richer and poorer. We are so close now, he really is my best friend. He has even told me that he knows I'm "the one" and he knows that we will be together forever and he is so happy with me and I feel the same...but he has yet to ask me and there is no hint that he ever will. I don't want to force him to propose but should I keep waiting or what I've been thinking lately is asking him, my sister did that to her now husband-but I'm afraid he'll say no and I'll be crushed. Please help with any advice.

I'm not one of those gotta-get-married girls but I want nothing more than to be with him. We are in our late 20's with careers and all so I know we are prepared to do so.

All you need to do is to wait he just need the right time to propose and the same thing planning the next thing to happen after his proposal. For sure he want to have enough money for that since he is the guy, just enjoy the company...

Things happen for the right time... it really feel good when you least expect it.

You have a couple of options.

1. Continue to wait. I'm thinking you're over that already.
2. Talk with him about it. Tell him you'd like to talk about getting married, and see where it goes - not romantic, but very practical.
3. It's 2007, propose to him. Personally, I'd do it very campy and down on one knee, but then...I'm a goof.
4. Deliver the ultimatum...marry me...or else. Bad idea. What if he picks the "or else"?

Honestly, depending on your relationship, go with #2 or #3. Whichever appeals the most to you.

Whatever you do...ultimatums are really stupid. Just so you know.

What is the difference? Except saying he is my boyfriend/husband! Leave it alone. MAYBE sooner or later he may ask you. But if not, no big deal. You already that you have been through every thing.

You sit down and talk to him about it. Ask him if it's going to get any more serious, or if it's just at a stand still.
