If you reported the car stolen to the police and they believed you and took a theft report - then most likely, you and your insurance company will not be responsible for the damage to the fence.

However, with out comprehensive coverage on your vehicle - then you will not get paid anything for the damage to your car. Comprehensive coverage pays for damage caused by theft. With out it -there is nothing your insurance company can do for you.

The fence would only be paid if you were driving the car and NOT in the process of commiting a crime (like the scumball that stole your car), so don't worry about that. Even if the dope is captured the chances of ever getting any money out of him (prison pays very little) is zero. Sorry -- you'll have to pay for your car repairs yourself.

Sorry, but you're going to be on your own. The only thing you can do is hope that the person who stole it is identified...and then hope that they have enough finances to pay for the damage to your car. Your insurance will not pay for the damage to the fence, because the moment your vehicle is stolen their (and your) liability ends. But you will not have to pay for it either. But as far as the damage to your car is concerned, you will have to pay that yourself and then bring the thief to court to sue him for the damages if he is eventually found.

When you get "liability only" insurance you are basically saying "I will be OK if i have no one to recover damages for after an accident- I am financially OK to get a replacement car"

Didnt you know what you were getting yourself into? People get collision coverage for a reason- you opted not to.

Even if they find the criminal you really think its that easy to just get money back from them?

Sorry buddy... you put this on yourself. Im not sure what you want us to say..

Liability is only coverage for damage or loss you cause to others, it has no provision for damage or loss to your property.

Collision/upset covers you for damages in an accident that another is not responsible for covering.

Comprehensive covers things like fire, THEFT, vandalism, hail, lightning, and vermin.

If all you carry is liability, you have no coverage for damage to your car, because you have chose to take a chance and self-insure the vehicle. Sorry. Now you have to hope they catch the thief, and he can be made to contribute to your loss.

Your insurance will pay for the fence. They will not pay for your car, because you said "No, thanks" to fire, theft and collision coverage. By doing that you said "I have enough money to go buy a new one without your help if I wreck it, or it gets stolen, or catches on fire."
