parts of the world. Is there any organization doing anything about this?

There are many organizations. In the Detroit area it is forgotten harvest. Much of the stuff is thrown away because of health department regulations.

Unfortunately, this is true. Americans throw away more food in a day than some people in other countries get to eat in a week. Yet we can't send our leftovers anywhere. We can cut down on what we buy and donate to a local food pantry.

They have food distribution for people on EBT (formerly called food stamps) They also give to food pantries and churches that distribute food. It's been a long time since they actually threw it away.

well its not like we can donate food thats been eatten off of...how safe is that? americans just shouldnt get such large portions of food....and yes food pantries, churches, and other organizations are helping...what are u doin about this is the question??

Salvation Army I'm sure.....some churches and food pantry's also.
