This is a easy question that apparently you missed the baot on dating. All girls in my case are special and have something unique about them. Weather they are smart nerds not as birght of a light or even snotty. You can find a way to explore that little secret she only shares witha true friend.I have had some really bad hot girl dates that only cared about there puffy lips curly hair and there friends. I have had other dates that were nerds that turned out to be the best dates ever. Funny tried anything friendly and paied attention to the littel things, like talking about the things we have in common. I had went out with big boned girls that would ance the pants of fme and were more caring and loveing then most g.f ever could be.So dont judge a book by its cover you never know what lays inside it.

well let's look at personality first? i think guys would go for the dropdead gorgeous one, just because she seems nicer. and pretty. :] but it depends on the persoanlity mainly, except not a lot of popular girls are that nice :/
if they were smart they won't look at popularity. popularity can only get you so far in your daily social school life, but once you're out to college....*poof*. things change just like that, and the popular ones that are trying to be hard to maintain popularity to think about school dropsout and the nice, pretty, behind the background sweet ones are off to college and enjoyin the time of their free life. sometimes, karma works like this. :]

Both could be nice, but honestly, I'd probably skip both of them and go for option #3: the girl who has some friends and is pretty, but isn't gorgeous or popular.

why is popularity even a factor in this?
theres nothing wrong with nerdy girls just as long as they are good looking, but there IS something wrong with a dumb good looking girl though.

personality ---- if i like who she is and she likes me then how popular she is or who her friends are is not important --- but having "nerds" for friends would be fun --- they will be a lot more fun than "popular" people

It doesn't matter to me who their "clique" is. If I wanted to date somebody, I'm not doing it b/c they have awesome friends or if they are rich. I would want to date them for them, b/c I'm dating you, not ur friends.
