You will surprised but fundies do not believe everything in the Bible even though they subscribe to sola scriptura.
For example, fundies do not agree with Jesus and St. Paul about Christian unity.
Jesus prayed that His followers would be ONE.
"that they may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us..." (John 17:21)
St. Paul emphasizes that all followers of Jesus Christ should be ONE.
"Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgement." (1 Cor 1:10)

First, not ignore what is outside of the Bible, but what contradicts God's word.
Secondly, science is one thing, speculation is another. There is a lot of speculation and so called "scientific" ideas that are based on nothing more than assumptions and these so called fats are just not supported by reality- that is what we ignore.

It does not say to ignore science. The Bible says the following: Phil 4:8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. 9 Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.

Or even other church writings,for example. I've been reading a lot of that stuff - Origen,Ambrose,Tertullian. I don't think fundies really know much about christianity. They've never even heard of St. Augustine or the apocrypha.

What it DOES say is that "that which is not of faith is sin".
If science causes you to doubt what God says is true, then for you, science is sin.
You cannot claim that there is no scientific proof of God and then use science to disprove/prove the existence of God. Science involves objectivity and what can be proven through experience and experiment.

The Bible DOES say not to add to or take away from anything that is written in it.

In Deuteronomy 4:2 and also in Revelation 22:18 it says not to add to or take away from scripture...nothing about science
