She should at minimum register for the free membership scholarship search engines. It will give her an idea what is out there and tips. There is a limited number of scholarships available to high school juniors. Most are for seniors. The application deadlines are throughout the year, so she has to keep updated with the scholarship search websites. In the meantime, I recommend keeping the grades up, school, prepare for the SAT, and activities. I will include some other tips to find college tuition money.
First, the high school guidance office has a list of local scholarships for current students. Most are probably for seniors. These are the easiest to get compared to nationally based ones.
Second, complete the FAFSA in her senior year. Even if you think you make too much money, still apply. It will qualify her for need based scholarships from the college itself, the Pell Grant if the EFC score is low enough, work study program, and student loans. This needs to be applied to before the earliest financial aid deadline. Also, it needs to be done every year until she graduates from college.
Third, some states do reward students with excellent grades. Google.com and Yahoo.com for more information.
Fourth, the local public library has a book listing college scholarships with some not even listed on the web.
Finally, join several free membership scholarship search websites. Complete a profile, and it will search for scholarships matching the profile. There is a scholarship for almost anything including wearing duct tape to the senior prom.
Good luck!
