Phones are specifically banned. However Licensed amateur radio operators are allowed to drive with the mic in hand. There is a loophole on the rules. HOWEVER (again) There is still the requirement to have the vehicle under proper control and the "Due care and attention" laws apply at all times. Often this will come down to the opinion of the police officer involved.

The law states that anything that takes both hands away from the steering wheel is illegal while driving although there has not been a crackdown of this yet against truck drivers... Anything that involves taking you hand off the wheel which inludes eating talking on the phone texting all this is illegal.

I hope this helped

In fact, unlike a mobile phone, there's no specific offence.

You can always be "done" though for not being in proper control of your vehicle, which also applies to smoking, drinking, eating etc . . .

Yes you can get done by Lilly Law as you are supposed to have both hands on the steering wheel. It surprises me that they allow you to take your hand of the steering wheel to change gear! If you get caught you will get lots of points, and these point don't win prize's.
Only the loss of your driving licence.
Don't forget that 'BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING YOU'.

I would have thought so, after all you can't eat, drink, or smoke anymore. But it's probably up to the Police how hard they enforce the new laws.

... and knowing the Police and motorists, they'll get you if they get the chance!

Only public services (police, ambulance, fire, public transport) are allowed to use radios when driving.
