It may not be too long before science will allow people to choose these types of traits for their babies. Pretty much every inheritable trait could be tuned according to the parent preferences. Would you take advantage of this and choose the traits or would you leave up it to nature? Do you think this would be an ethical application of sciencce according to your personal belief system?

Nah, I don't want to mess with nature when it comes to my child. Sounds too dangerous.

I already chose the traits of my children in the person I married, the families we are part of, the household we keep, the education we gave our children, and the love we showed in raising them. These traits are far more important than any catalogue of so-called genetic standards. To attempt to pattern inheritance any differently would not only be an unethical application of "science", it would be nothing other than wishful thinking at best. Altogether too many variables are part of the process to come up with anything like a menu to choose a child from. I've got the world's most beautiful children and grandchildren. I wouldn't want anybody else to screw that up.

Nope. I would take them as they are. No genetic engineering could make me love them more. My decision doesn't have anything to do with religion.

No. I couldn't love it as much. It'd feel way too artificial and fake.

In a way we already do - by carefully choosing our mates.

Sure we would... and in no time we'd all start becoming identical to George Bush.
