It's true that global warming is mostly hype. Now Y2K wasn't hype, but it wasn't really going to cause the type of problems some predicted. I was involved in a lot of the reprogramming done, so made a lot of money during that period. I remember people saying we were going to have no electricity or food, but I knew that was nonsense. Just like the extremes of this "global warming" stuff are nonsense.
History shows we're in a slight warming period that started in the late 70's after a slight cooling period. It's completely natural and nothing to get so upset about.
So whether you believe it or not is immaterial. It has become like a religion, so belief is important to keep the myth alive.
But all in all, since it's a natural phenomenon, there's not much we can do about it, so don't worry.
And to whoever said "ask a polar bear" - please read a book or something. Polar bears have actually been increasing in numbers since the 60's. Please, I'm begging you, get educated. It hurts to see such ignorant people on this forum.

Here's what I believe. Yes, global warming is real and there is nothing anyone can do about that.
But , we as creatures inhabiting a planet are doing a terrible job of taking care of it. The list is a long one of things we need to improve on as a society.
We don't recycle nearly enough of our waste. Land fills could be (if it had the meens to be so) a heck of a lot smaller and less needed. Ft Myers on the west coast has an incinerator. they burn whatever and then they reburn the fumes at super heat emmiting ultra low level of polution. I think a good alternative.
I have an idea, set up recyclings program to accept a lot more then they currently do. They could pay for the collection from the homeless people. Homeless find garbage on street, they bring it in and get paid for it. Have you ever seen an old newpaper waded up and laying in a gutter? Can a wet soiled newspaper be recycled? Why not? Think of how much that ends up in a landfill (that if somebody realy wanted to)could recycle. Yes the tax payers always foot the bill (which may not be that much) in the end , but don't you think THAT would be worth it? And you would kill two birds with one stone. You occupy the homeless and give them some relief and you help the environment. Can't beat that!
Don't you think we have a lot of alternative power souces available? As we build on that, we will become less dependant on fossil fuels is the way I see it. And that is some thing we should do. But remember the oil companys are going to put up a fight (which will slow things down) but in the distant future will eventualy lose. We have wind, solar, and water all as alternative sources. LET'S GET GOING PEOPLE. Speaking in the broadest of terms meaning all people.
Having said that, I agree with Charles H completly. And would like to add, That not only is global warming natural and inevitable, but it's also going to get worse before it gets better. And people should take warning. The Earth goes through cycles between hot and cold. That remains undisputed. How many Ice ages has the Earth been through? Probably close to the same number of warm up periods. But life in one form or another has been flourishing here for a long time.
I'm not quite sure, but could it be that we don't have as much impact (one way or the other) on the Earth as we think we do? Maybe we have a lot less of an impact on the Earth then the Earth has on us. Maybe we are as insects on this big hill called Earth and the Earth does what it wants to without regard for mankind or any other being. I live on the East coast of Florida and we have been experiencing a unusual amount of beach erossion this year. Lets see... "let's build a 12 million dollar house on the beach and see how long it takes mother nature to alter our structure." Florida is a sand bar, and these people want front row seat. But they're going in style. Seriously, it might take 1 or 200 years but the ocean does what it wants to and eventually will win. Any way, Happy warming!!!
ps. My wife bought a hybrid Honda, Get 40 in town and 50 hwy miles. She drives it mostly to work about 25minute commute. She fills the tank for around $35.00 and it last her 3 weeks. Go hybrids.

It's not a matter of "believe" or "disbelieve." Itis a matter of knowledge versus ignorance. Man-made globalwarming is a scientific fact.
And--if you look back to the "Y2K" fuss--al the hype was by the same ignorant (mostly right wig) kooks who are now "global warming "skeptics." Then--they ignored the statements of engineers and scientists who tried to tell them it was a minor glitch that was easily fixed and there woudl be no "disaster." But--since they didn't understand the science and thought they were smarter than people who spent their lives working in the field--these kooks ran around buying "survival kits" and yelling like Chicken Little.
Well, guess what? The nasty scientists turned out to be right. Imagine that. And they scientists are right about global warming.
Your example, in other words, just shows how stupid the "skeptics" are. LOL

The Earth has had ice a while, they have been cooling sessions, between them have been warming sessions. This has been occurring for all of Earth’s 4 + - billion years. This all befell in the previous any of the well-liked-day technologies got here into being and could proceed while we are long previous. The Earth is going by using a pole shift precise now. A pole shift is while the magnetic poles change polarities. in the time of pole shifts the magnetosphere is weaker and greater of the sunlight’s rays strike the Earth, this reasons better heating of the Earths floor, and makes worldwide warming greater reported. those are organic cycles of the Earth. We puny stupid human beings can not greater provide up or perhaps decrease a organic cycle of the Earth, than the guy in the moon. it is 9th grade technology, and you may think of that scientists and politicians could be greater perfect knowledgeable, besides the undeniable fact that it form of feels that this no longer so, and that they might undergo in recommendations 9th grade technology type too. this might could be yet another smoke and mirrors propaganda marketing campaign to cover our governments lies and con video games. there are various of of conspiracies working rampant it’s stressful to tell that are actual and that are in simple terms user-friendly stupidity. the belief we can provide up worldwide warming IS stupidity at it’s optimal sort.

Climate change is happening because it is always happening, it is part of how our climate works. For the past 30 or so years it has been warming, it was cooling for the previous 30 or so years.
The idea that the present warming cycle is man made is a political/religious doctrine and in a free society you are entitled to believe it, or not.
I have worked for several years with the Arctic research institute in Russia where the scientists, meteorologists geologists paleontologists and biologists, do not accept the 'man made' part of the story, and are free to express their opinions openly, while in the west any scientist who openly opposes the 'man made hypothesis' is likely to have his/her research funding withdrawn.
I am now retired, but my former colleagues tell me it is almost impossible to get a research project funded unless you con link it to global warming. This is the way that the scientific process is being perverted by the politicians in the west who hold the purse strings
In the current court case in the UK where Gore's film is being accused of telling lies, the scientific spokesman for the department of Education was forced to accept that he film distorted and exaggerated the picture.
Two examples are
Sea levels are rising, but at a rate of 40cm per century only
The Arctic ice cap is melting, but at a rate that will take several thousand years.
And one direct lie. Antarctica is not getting warmer and melting, it is getting colder and the ice is increasing

Yes I do believe in global warming. I don't think that it is just a phase that Earth is going through because if you look at the charts the "extremes" in the past are nowhere near as extreme as now. Also 8 out of the 10 hottest years on record occurred in the last ten years and 2007 is supposed to be the hottest year on record. Scary isn't it? And even if Global warming isn't totally true I think that people do need to change their lifestyle at least for the animals and for their own sake. I hate it when I see people that are a block away from a store and they still have to drive their big fat SUV. WALK!!!!!!!

No such thing as Man Made Global Warming. The earth is warming, just not because of us. If you want to know what is causing it, look at the big glowing ball in the sky. Just wear sunglasses.

I'm so scared if it's true.
But I'm not sure anymore because a few months ago, my English teacher said that this was just a period of "global warming" and soon, there's going to be a cold period which will cool down the earth, which comes every 100 years or something. Like the Ice Age. I hope this is true.

Oh definately yeh! The proof is happening everyday all around us, Have you noticed the dramitic changes in the weather over the past few years, not to mention the record breaking wet weather in which 1000s of people lost thier homes and in some cases their lives. The English 4 seasons is seriously out of it's traditional sync! I'ts had it's effect on everything including the decline of many species of animals.

I believe in the science of global warming and the scientists that support this theory. As far as Y2K, get educated, this was an issue that cost business a lot of money to ensure no issue. This was a proactive approach, the same of which should be applied to GW.
