just two 500watt halos, yes evan well spotted its a bit flat, actually awesome answer friend, 2 1/2 blue gels, one as key one a hard fill, slightly from above, green reflectors, 5600k i think. a kit lens - flatness also, 1x hoya close up filter - flat to

evan your suggestions on sunny day/late afternoon are a credit to you. many thanks

it was more an exercise in simplicity for me, lazy or time consious i dont know, pleased with it, client paid so it works on certain levels

Edwin's right, it looks kind of like an overcast day.... its nice and soft but a bit flat. Its ok as is, but not really as striking as it could be.

If the shot is supposed to "look" outdoor I'd consider a sports reflector gelled 1/4 CTO to mimic a late afternoon sun look... Probably back-lit. Try that along with the softbox fill but keeping a good strong ratio (4:1-5:1?) And it'll be a nice sunny afternoon.

I like it. You are a photographer and I am not, so I won't insult you by pretending to answer your question.

For myself, and my own work, and my (different) purposes, I tend to try for ( but not always succeed) dramatic lighting, chiaroscuro (not sure about spelling). But then I'm a dramatic person ! I also use too many brackets in my sentences!

BTW, I enjoyed going back and answering that orb question.. thank you for pointing that out ! I run a group called spooky stuff.. but I still have serious doubts about orbs, and I HATE people telling me how to answer questions!.

That's interesting. There are no shadows anywhere!

But wait... This isn't a trick question, is it? You are not really trying to ask, "How do you like my photography?" are you?

Then, is it a softbox?

there is no flow of light it is too plain, it does need a more dramatic light source>
