Stop throwing up! It is terrible for you and will reset your metabolism so that it's harder to lose weight! Your body will decide that you are starving it and will hang onto every pound with a death grip. Then whatever food you do keep down will make you gain weight. Also, throwing up burns your throat with stomach acid and I've heard that it can cause cancer of the esophagus. Instead of throwing up, look up the Idiot Proof Diet on the internet. It is a balanced, if peculiar, diet and you will drop pounds without ever being hungry and without throwing up. Also, sign up with Curves and go there 3 or 4 times a week to work out for 1/2 hour. It's easy and gets easier the longer you do it.
I started at size 26 pants and now wear an 18. You can do it too! Just take the first step. Also, see your doctor before you start any weight control plan, to make sure he agrees that it's okay for you to do. I'd bet my front teeth that your doctor would be very much against the *throwing up after meals* plan. And I like my front teeth.
Another option is to join Overeaters Anonymous. My friend Paula dropped almost 200 pounds on their plan.
Best wishes to you. If you need emotional support, you may contact me.

At 53 it should be obvious throwing up is not the right way to get the results you're looking for. No you will not lose weight that way. You will ruin your teeth and oesophagus. You need to increase the speed of your metabolism and purging won't help that at all. Actually your body will start storing more fat than before. You need to exercise and eat healthy if you truly want to lose weight. You wont lose 100 lbs without a lot of effort, so get workin !

You won't lose weight from doing this, because you have no idea of knowing how much of the fat content and caloric content of your food has already been absorbed by the time you throw it up. You can't be sure you are throwing it all up either. You can't purge the food you just ate and bring the balance of food in your stomach to 0. Your body is not a bag you can fill up with calories then empty out! At the least, you are dehydrating yourself, which makes it seem like you are losing weight, when in reality each time you do it you are one step closer to collapsing and getting taken to the hospital.
The only thing that "burns up fat" is exercise. Stop trying to vomit it out... all you are doing is losing hydration. You're still fat, and will continue to be fat even when you are in the hospital on iv fluids from collapsing.

You and I are the same age. You could not do anything WORSE to yourself. The fat will NOT burn. You will just be depriving yourself of food and that alone will make your body hold onto the fat for security. Vomiting can really damage your throat and esophagus as well. Trust me: go to your doctor and get a good healthy diet (use the dinner plate to Gage what you eat: 1/2 of the plate should be vegetables, one quarter meat or protein and one quarter starch. Walk, walk, walk. Do some Resistance training. Vary your exercise routine so your body doesn't get into a rut. Look for books like "YOU: On a Diet" by Dr. Memhet Oz and also Bob Greene (Oprah's trainer) has a really good book out on nutrition and weight loss also. But, let's face it: at our age the weight is not going to come off easy. Your doctor may talk to you about the lap band or gastric bypass as a last resort. These two are the best.......but it is a life altering procedure that should be well thought out before doing it. Please, please don't hurt yourself anymore with vomiting. Talk to your doctor. He/she can help you.

You organs need some nourishment so you are not loosing the weight as much as getting into a dangerous area. try something else. There are plenty of diet plans on the internet so find one that you like and stick to that instead. and you can do physical things to bring the weight off even faster than throwing up your food, and that would be healthier. Watch the biggest loser on tv and you may get some ideas there but notice where they are losing much more than a hundred pounds it is done by food portion and exercise. Your body is not meant to eat and then throw up so that alone is abusing your body and may be very dangerous!!

omg stop. throwing up will NOT help. u WILL burn ure esophagus and give ureself all kinds of internal bleeding. im not kidding u. u can look up something called Boerhaave's esophageal herniation, or Mallory-Weiss Herniation. They are BOTH prevalent in people who throw up a lot, or drink liquor and then throw up, or people who get motion sickness and throw up. ure stomach acids are NOT meant to be in ure esophagus and there are A LOT of other probs that u will soon get in addition to being overweight- which are going to make u more depressed and gain more weight. Also, this is a common misconception- throwing up only makes u eliminate about half of the calories that u ate since all the chemicial processes that happened in ure mouth, esophagus, stomach whatever all took IN calories from ure food already. so its NOT helping u lose weight AND ure more hungry later, and weaker because u lost electrolytes, AND ure hurting ureself. If you do a little research ull also see that people that are "bulimic" like hardcore and are NOT annorexic are usually average weight because they arent losing as many calories that they think they are. and this leads to binges that u KNOW are pretty damn well uncontrollable. ure best bet-- just eat less calories a day of stuff thats high in fiber and protein and ull be fine and ull lose weight- also get in exercise!!!!
hope that help and PLEASE stop this sillyness

Sweetie..you are doing way more harm then good. First of all, considering your age (I'm 36), you need to check in with your doctor....get a physical, testing for diabetes, hypothyrodism, etc. Get your heart checked out first and foremost.
Who said you are 100 pounds overweight? Your "good" weight is determined by your height, body type (bone structure and stuff) and age first. If you have any medical issues, that could have a bearing on how much you "need" to weigh.
If you are serious about LOSING weight, you'll make an appointment with your doctor so he/she can give you a complete physical FIRST. Because you are at in the menopausal age range, your dietary and fitness needs are probably TOTALLY different from mine....but you also have to take your lifestyle, activity level and stress level into consideration...so as much as I would LOVE to tell you to exercise and eat right...I can, but I can't give you the details your doctor or doctor's nutritionist would that are specific to YOUR needs.
What I can say is that vomiting after meals is not healthy, physically or mentally. You won't lose weight that way, and you will end up in the hospital with bigger physical problems if you continue to do that. Make an appointment with your doctor....be honest with him/her about what you want to do, and take any referalls from them (dietician, personal trainer, etc.) AFTER they've given you the 411 on where you are now.
And, to answer your question? You aren't burning fat when you purge your meals...you are only setting your bodies metabolism back...putting it into starvation mode..so it's holding on to the stored fat (and storing more calories as fat)because you aren't allowing your body to work efficiently...as it was made to do. And yes, you are probably doing some irreversable damage to your body when you force yourself to vomit.
I'm trying to lose some weight too......I never purged, but I always thought if I didn't eat, I'd lose....NO, NOT!.......I didn't drop a pound (gained weight, actually) and I was a cranky ***** on top of it. You have to eat the right things, 5 times a day, and move your body...down 5 pounds in the last 30 days (which was a goal for me)....talk to your doctor.....they'll tell you the same thing.
Good luck...and report back! Baby steps, sweetie....baby steps!!!

Before the FAT hurts your organs? huh? First of all if you are trying to lose weight, I'm sure you know that an eating disorder is the wrong way to do it. Slowly and steadily, start to walk outdoors for at least a half an hour per day. Eat large salads before lunch and dinner. Pray and believe you can change you body. Consistency is key. Be patient with yourself and stop abusing it. Peace honey.

NO!! the fat in the food might not be getting to your organs, but the acid from your stomach that comes back up every time you puke(bulimia nervosa) will hurt your throat, mouth, teeth, and many of your other organs. and this could eventually kill you. please see a doctor and get on a healthy diet. i have been losing weight by changing my eating lifestyle. i don't eat after 8, i stay away from sugary foods and thick foods like bread, pasta, and rice. and i'm not eating a huge amount of dairy. i also go on a daily walk or bike ride, and i have a stationary bike for winter. try something different and get help.

throwing up all the time is really hard on your teeth and esophagus.
it doesn't make the fat "burn up" you just throw it up before you body has a good chance to process it.. and it makes you comfortable because you don't feel the since of hunger anymore..since you had some food
I'd just stop eating supper since you're going to throw it up anyway..
or just have a simple green salad
it also helps to eat slower becuase if you eat too fast, your body ends up needing more food to feel "satisfied"
so take your time and eat slower if you can. seriously
it takes like 20 minutes for your stomach to say.. okay.. i'm good.. but by that time, you've already probably eaten too much
oh yeah, and if you try to starve yourself, you body starts to store the fat it already has, because it's not expecting to get anymore food..
saving up i guess
