In ancient Jewish tradition Satan is simply an angel doing the work that God assigned to Satan to do.
The word Satan means challenger. With the idea of Satan challenging us, or tempting if you will. This description sees Satan as the angel who is the embodiment of man's challenges. This idea of Satan works closely with God as an integral part of Gods plan for us. His job is to make choosing good over evil enough of a challenge so that it becomes clear to us that there can be only one meaningful or logical choice.
Contrast this to Christianity, which sees Satan as God's opponent. In Jewish thought, the idea that there exists anything capable of setting itself up as God's opponent would be considered polytheistic or setting up the devil to be an equally powerful polarity to god or a demigod.
Oddly, proof for The Christian satan/devil mythology is supposedly found in the ancient Jewish texts that were borrowed to create the bible. One can’t help but wonder how Christians came up with such a fantastically different interpretation of Gods assistant Satan in their theology.
Other hints about Satan’s role in human relations can be seen if you look at the name Lucifer. It’s meaning in the original tongue translates as Light bearer or light bringer. Essentially the bringer of enlightenment. The temptations of the Satan idea bring all of us eventually into Gods light. Hardly the Evil entity of Christian mythology.

Satan is not in Hell right now. He is roaming the Earth seeking whom he may devour. Satan will be imprisoned during the millennial reign and then loosed for a time. During that time he will do what you suggest.
Revelation 20:7 And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,
Rev 20:8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.
Rev 20:9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.

Satan is real, He is Banished, to the realm of the Earth, never to enter Heaven Again.
He does have an army assembled to attach God and any one loyal to God.
They are pretty succusful just now, let me read you Just one scripture about the time JUST before God and Jesus take Satan out of the picture for ever.
2 Timothy,Chapter3 versesd 1-5.
But know this, that in the last days chritical times hard to deal with will be here.
Men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, selfassuming, haughty, blaspheremers, disobediant to parents, unthankful, hacing no natural affection, not open to any agreement, slanderers, with out self control, fierce, with out love of Goodness..
Betrayers, headstrong, puffed up with pride, lovers of pleasure , rather than Lovers of God....etc.
These are Satans minoins, spirit creatures that chose to follow him, and humans that also choose to follow him. These wage WAR ON FAITHFUL HUMANS WHO KEEP GODS INTEGERITY.
Oh yes He is under Gods authority, but not in a good way!
The King, Jesus now enthroned in Heaven will SOON do away with Satan and His wickedness for ever!
As far as punnishment for sinners the Bible teaches us that The wages sin pays is death!
That is found in Romans 6: 23
when you die, your sins are forgotten, paid for by your death!
No HELL, for punishment, no Satan the devil with the pitchfork.
Remember, wall including Lazerith, and the Apostles died, WE all contained some kind of sin.
If hell were real, then God would have had to relinquish all the imperfect Saints and Apostles to hell for their imperfect actions.
BUT, there is no Hell , only death, and death pays for our Human sins.

Satan is alive and well on planet Earth....he is raising armies every day who deny God and fight against all that is good in this world......Are you on God's side or Satan's side?..that is your only choice..
God will punish sinners...and Satan...he has already lost the war....I've read the back of the book...

There would be no point in satan doing that, because God is all powerful, and it is impossible to overthrow Him! Satan knows that he has no chance. And, I think he likes hell, because he likes to see others suffer under his command. Yes, he is under God's authority, but chooses not to follow it, just like the humans here on earth.

1 he is banished to earth, not hell... he will be put in hell one day
2 he doesn't want to overthrow God... he wants to destroy what God created... therefore tricking man into sin godlessness
3 He always has and always will be subject to God's athority
4 He doesn't torture sinners... hell does. The devil simply attempts to keep folks from being saved and keeps Christians from living victoriously and bringing glory to God
