Pushing religion aside, why do people not believe in the King James Bible? If you take out all religious sects; islamists, christians, catholics, ALL OF THEM, none of which are specified in the bible, and you take them ALL OUT, and just take the word for what it is, why wouldn't anyone believe? I doubt the publishers of the KJB are getting royalties from the sales of the book. The cost of a bible can run you as low as $3. No one has anything to gain from having you read the bible. The bible is "just a book". So why do people shun away from it? Has anyone done this? And if you have, what did you get from it?

The bible was created by the roman empire to change the message of Jesus to something that the Romans found more acceptable.

This is why it is often difficult to understand. The message of Jesus on the other hand is elegant and simple to understand. You need to separate the message that Jesus left for us from all of the nonsense that the Romans overlaid it with and it will start to become quite easy to understand.

Don't take my word for any of this. Study biblical history for your self and draw your own conclusions. There are many good books on this subject by some intelligent and thoughtful people. Take advantage of their efforts.

Email if you are interested and I will send some suggested reading material.

Love and blessings.

Because it is full of death, rape, murder, and other horrors. Perhaps you need to actually read it!

Its a horrible book. I have three of them, other then pulling them out to look up quotes from in here (R&S) I never touch the things anymore. I went to a Catholic school as a kid, read the thing and was horrified by it.

Also the fact that its been translated so many times from so many different languages that no one can be completely sure of its authenticity of content any longer.

I have since found the Wiccan religion and I feel like I have come home. It is a beautiful religion filled with joy, light and love. We celebrate the seasons and the earth. I am much happier with this religion then I was as first a Catholic and then as a Baptist.

I have found my path and have been on it for the past 10...no 11 or wait...12 years now.

Blessings,

Because the bible is not true. It is not "the word of god." It does not prove that god exists. It proves that some men wrote a bunch of stories a couple of thousand years ago. They had their own morals, values, and beliefs that were influenced by their time period. Most of the stuff in the bible is no longer relevant today, and the things that are are common sense. I don't need a book to tell me that murder is bad etc.. I can form my own beliefs and make rational moral decisions without an antiquated book provoking my actions and thoughts.

I read it. It's a book. I don't read a work of fiction and start believing everything in it if it's somewhat interesting. I probably know more about the Bible than most Christians, and I'm still an atheist.

The bible is the word of goat herders and fishermen , not the lord . They had no special knowledge or training , but they sure were loaded with ancient superstitions .
The " Lord " never spoke to any of them except in their imagination , and you know what that's worth.
In addition , the messages are translations of translations .
Give me one single word that was uttered by god . Directly by god . Zero , zilch , nada .

Because it's fiction. It has all the elements of classical mythology from a creation story to the apocalypse. Read some Greek mythology and you'll see what I'm saying.

"Pushing religion aside, why do people not believe in the King James Bible?"
Pushing religion aside?
It's the ONLY reason you'd 'believe' in it.

I've read it twice.
The first time was to see if the was a ‘god’ in there.
The second was to make sure my first reading of it was correct.
There is no ‘god’ in bible.

It's just a buncha stories to scare the peasants and their children; it's just a buncha stories to scam the peasants and their children; it's just a buncha stories to control the peasants and their children; it's just a buncha stories to rip-off the peasants and their children.
It's a buncha bull that only frightened cowardly peasants would believe in.

I am not a peasant.

I think people may be afraid of what they will find. It is human nature not to want to be wrong. It's a pride issue for some.

Then again the Jesus said: " Come to me all who are thirsty."
Apparently a lot of people just are not thirsty. I personally NEVER want to be satisfied. I NEVER want to have enough of God. Keep it coming!!! How about you?

I believe that NONE of the Bible is fictional. All of it is true. I firmly believe that.

Dude, I've read it, along with many other works of Fiction. You aren't supposed to believe in Fiction... but you're not alone. My nieces still think there is a monster in their closet when they go to sleep, after seeing Monsters Inc. But at least they'll grow out of it.

Read it. Know it. Find it unbelievable and unreliable.
