do you think these commandments should be posted in public places?

cwstuffff, yes they are rules of common decency but its not very common which is why some people need to be reminded.

and yes my conscious would speak to me, infact that's why Im asking if these should be posted, otherwise why would I ask if these should be posted? Because I already know to be curteous but others dont.

I say, none at all.

Anyway, some things are people's own business. As an adict, I don't like 3; you don't have the right to tell me what to do with my life. (I fully support doing everything to prevent more people from becoming slaves to the evil sticks; but don't make my life more hellish than it already is. My smoke, since I can't smoke in enlosed public areas, dissipates, and doesn't harm you or anyone else.)

About 6: When I was in college, they put butcher paper on the stall walls, and people wrote and drew on it. It was actually a very cool system. The women's rooms had art,a nd interesting discussions.

About 7: if the bus is fairly empty, there's no harm in my putting my bag on the next seat, or sitting in a way that my knees aren't jammed into the seat in front of me. I do promise that, if there's any indication that someone needs or wants the seat, I lift my bag and scoot.

7: What bathroom? I mean, when no one needs whatever bathroom I'm using, I can use it as long as I want. Everyone should use the bathroom for as long as they need to.

9: "forever"? I'm spending my hard-earned money for some food. I have the right to know what I need to know to decide, and have the right to ask for the food I'm paying for to be prepared the way I want it.

If a person doesn't know what they want, getting relevant info is legit; wasting the wait-person's time hemming is not. (Ask them to come back, or step back from the counter and let the next person order.)

If you're talking about people in cars trying to give their order, and verify it was understood, the commandment should be: Fast food places shall use communication systems that people can actually understand what's being said, and should make an attempt to have speakers of the major language of the locality take orders.

But the idea that posting these things wouldchange anyone's behavior is naive.

Most of your statement is incorrect, ie the part that many in prisons are innocent, no they arn't. And President Bush never created the Department of Misinformation. Why do Christian faithed people want the 10 commandments posted in public places, is to remind those who are doing bad what a Christian God really wants. Because some feel there should not be the separation of Church and State.

I think they are all excellent rules, I especially like number five. However, posting them in a public place would probably open up a huge can of worms. Some people would resent being told what to do and it may bring out their rebellious sides and make the problem worse!
I think the best thing to do is just to set a good example. In a perfect world, everyone would follow suit!

LOL, not all of them, though! Be fair! Who ever feels their own children are annoying?

I think it would be inconsiderate to hurry someone who clearly needs extra time in a bathroom, or to ask a smoker to quit for you. Ordering food slowly? Well, what about "If you need extra time to consider the menu, please consider the hunger of your fellow diners."?

What about people who read slowly, are afraid to order something too expensive, or are afraid of being mocked for their choice by a bully? Isn't dining out supposed to be a friendly, social occasion?

And on hogging seats - could be they are intimidated by you, maybe you look like the last guy who mugged them, who knows. Why not consider their reasons for behaving as they do? If they are strangers, it can't be intended as a personal insult.
