What is the best tactic when you the flop gives you top pair. i.e. raise three time the big blind, go all in or any other way to play it.
If there could be potential flush draw for an opponent - does this change the strategy.

When you flop top pair and you have the standard 100bb buyin you should rarely go allin. When you go allin only better hands are calling (set, higher kicker hand, straight, flush, etc) Top pair /w a good kicker(jack or higher) can extract 2 streets of value max from hands that you beat against a mediocre player. Against most players they will call with a hand that is worse than yours one street (mid pair, low kicker top pair, etc). Therefore, most good players who flop top pair and bet preflop will bet the flop. Then they will check/call the turn. This is because get people to bluff and now they beat more hands. If they had bet they would have forced bluffs out, and players with middle pair wont call anymore. Sometimes they will also the bet the turn if they think they can get more value or if they need to protect their hand. . On the river, they will sometimes check/fold and sometimes check/call depending on the oppenent.

You should be more willing to call a bet when their are multilple draws. This is because many players bet draws and are willing to go allin with em. You are a 66% favorite over most draws so its profitable to call more.

No Limit Texas Hold'em is just not that simple. There is just no answer that you can give to a question like this.

If you flop top pair you have to consider your position, the action pre-flop, your read on your opponents, how high your top pair is, how good your kicker is, the texture of the board, how many suited cards are out there, and many other factors.

Texas Hold'em is far too complex for there ever to be a simple answer to this question.

I suggest that you start reading some books on the subject.

But if you want a very simple answer, I'd bet. Bet about 1/3 to 1/2 of the pot and see what happens. If this is enough to take it down, great. If you get resistance, consider backing off. All that said, this really is a VERY simplistic answer to a question that is actually a lot more complex than you perhaps realize.

There really is no set amount to bet in N/L holdem, it is always situational. As a guide 1/2 to 2/3 pot bet is normally satisfactory but it really is circumstantial.

For example:
How many players are you up against?
If one player, is he a tight player that only plays premium hands? Could he have also hit top pair with a stronger kicker? Does he have a higher pocket pair? What were his actions preflop?
If he has a straight draw, does he calculate odds in order to call?
What were your actions preflop? Can you quantify a continuation bet?
Do you have positional advantage?

There are so many variables that you simply cannot say a set amount.

Not much help I know but it's not an easy game. Sorry.

i have been playing for 13 years and still learning now but little advice .. cash game u can wait for hands .. try to figure if ur player is tight caller and so on ..e.g say i get a big hand i bet it big some times cause people expect u to slow play em which can be good but can lose u a lot of dosh and they r only 2 cards plenty more hands .. if they likley to call then bet big with them and if they hit the flop they more likely to put u on small pair or Ak or something.. pot odds is very good for long term strategy .. instinct is usall very good ..betting patterns online big give away .. i bet the same with bluff or goods
. i try not to stone cold bluff unless im sure they wont call .. semi bluffs r good cause with say a fldr or str dr u can hit and they dont put u on it ..i mix my game a lot from hour to hour so people seen me play loose think ah he calls with anything which can help ..and vice verse.
bankroll is very important always play in comfort zone whether it is .. u dont mind losing 10 bucks or 100 or 1000 what ever ..then u concentrate on the game rather than how much u might win or lose .. or whats in the pot so i call that 15 bet even tho u got no chance of winning..to be honest its very hard to win at small stakes cause bad players call when they shouldnt and get luky and harder to get them of there hands .. but u got learn there unless ur minted..
banter very important some people get wound up easy use it to ur advantage then they ant on the game ..

play fresh and thinking clear and short spells work for me .. play small when things just seem to be going wrong even if ur doing the wright things .. and play higher obviously if playing well but dont get carried away ..
plenty more books out there that no a lot more than me .. im mainly instinct player good at reading .. which most of the best players in the world r ..

One strategy is the value betting. There is an exact value to every possible hand and from what I have read about the pros, most use this system. Then adjust for their opponents skill level.

look at all his possible hands, he may also hav top pair with better kicker, he could of hit two pair, strates, and yes flush draws, lots of people bet on flush draws me included, if you think he on flush draw then reraise him all in, make him pay t chase it, sum decisions are hard t make, and times u will make the wrong one, but learn from it

I like to bet high to get all the cheepos out, and to get the guys drawing out. But if you have a read then its different, Of it is really strong then slow it, or maybe over bet intentionally to get a raise outta him, and if hes drawing maybe you'll get lucky

You play the people not the cards....

I find its better to let them try and work you out instead of the opposite..

That way you can snare them into making a mistake where they can't turn back.
