You know like someone asks a silly question then they type in (in caps quite often - how rude) that we cant tell them its a silly question or point out basic things

Aha... I suggest we all put a stop to it by deliberately targeting such questions and doing precisely what they tell us not to do !
Sooner or later (probably sooner) they'll realise that it was better before they started trying to be the answer police.
Imagine being so insecure that you have to try to control people's answers! EEEEEEEEK !
Now, I have something important to do.. I'm going to answer some of those questions ! hehehehe :o)

The thing is, Dr Sam, especially about the posts for critique, many OP's don't really want to know how good or bad their images are, or steps that might be taken to improve them. They want to be told how great the pictures are, and how they should be selling their mediocre snapshots to National Geographic. And there are legions of willing answerers who oblige. Not every asker is like that, of course, but a good many are.
Not too long ago, I was called a "heinous b*tch" for rating one of the poorest snapshots I've seen in a while as a 3. My skin is tough, oh well. And I've been reported just this week for telling someone that a professional wouldn't have to ask a particular question.
Toni, YA is wearing thin for me because of this very issue. I guess the YA community is what the majority of users want, and no one will cry if I never post an answer here again. That's ok. I'm not sure I could continue to enjoy it if I am constantly censoring my answers to avoid the YA vigilantes.

The first guy (ranting about "orbs" at Louis Braille's tomb) is talking about dust particles in the air that when photographed with a flash, look like little "orbs". Some really flaky people think they're "spirit orbs".
I say it's just dust.

I especially love the "will you do my homework for me" questions. I simply point out that to give an answer to a test, or homework assignment is pointless, you get an "A" but don't understand why. And I get called a jerk, and my answer violated for my trouble. I recall a very poignant saying, "Never ask a question to which you do not what to hear the answer".
People are stupid sometimes.

And I thought I was bad asking, "Do you think she's pretty?" with a link to the x-ray on Flickr. Why was it bad? Well, it would waste 10 seconds of someone's time. Hopefully, they would get a laugh out of it. What bothers me about the two that you linked is that they assume that users have an unlimited amount of time to devote to their personal problem. One guy believes in orbs and tells you how to go all over the internet to find his reference instead of posting a link (as you pointed out, Toni) and the other wants you to take your time to evaluate his 400 photos on Flickr. "Don't rush to answer just to get a point." Unless I recognize the name of the asked, I don't even bother with the people who want an opinion on a picture - even ONE picture. Heaven forbid you think it sucks and try to diplomatically tell them one or two things that could be improved. Okay, if the section is really slow and I have time and I can't help myself, I look. If I like it, I answer. But I digress.
One trend is to insult answerers. If I see that someone has been abusive towards an answerer - especially someone I know and respect and probably agree with - I won't bother getting in line for my share of abuse.
One person asked for evaluation of her "work" and posted a link to VGA images. I said that it would be easier to critique if they were a little larger, but went ahead and made some nice comments. She said, "Don't be so stupid. You have to click on the picture to make it bigger." Okay. I already did click on the thumbnail to make it 640x480, which she didn't realize, because I even referred to "VGA" in my answer.
The real trend is to waste people's time. How much is 10x+x if x=2 anyway? Cut me a break. Don't ask the same question 10 times within a matter of hours. I guess if he is to stupid to figure that problem out, he's never going to realize that he has to come back to pick up his answers.
How to I add a bit of color to a black and white image? Just for fun, start to ask that question and you will see that you are linked to previous answers - of which there are about 11,000. Why not look at a couple before you ask?
I got a kick out of the few who don't know me and tried to give a nice helpful answer when I facetiously asked that question, just so I could be the 10th one to ask in 24 hours.
Okay, we've all blown off some steam and now we are all at risk for getting reported, so I'll say that it was nice knowing you now before we all get kicked out.

Captsnuf - thanks for visiting my x-rayted lady and thanks for getting it!
Lidybeff - I LIKE the way you think. Unfortunately, I bet some of these askers would just turn around and report you for failing to answer the question or for having personal communication (like this) which is in violation.
Ara - NOW you understand the concept behind The F-Stops... I did not want people to drop out before I could get in touch with them to get it going. (No further public comment, please.)

Obviously.
Since they want to tell us how to answer then I suppose its okay for us to point out deficiencies in their spelling and grammar.
