Well first of all, be careful about lifting weight using the same muscles (even if it's not bench press) 2-3 days before you work out. This causes weakness, and hinders your progress.

Now, you probably aren't getting the right nutrition to build muscle. A lot of people just genetically build muscle faster than others, but it is most likely because you aren't getting a good enough diet. Remember your protein and vitamins!

If it always happens, and you don't see any progress after working yourself hard each week, you may consider asking a coach, or a fellow weight lifter for an adjusted plan.

You most likely aren't getting enough of the right foods to eat, or just are not eating the right foods. I do wrestling in High School, and I know if I don't eat, my performance goes down, and I can't lift near as much in the weight room.

benching requires a substantial amount of mental focus, so that can always be an issue if you are not focused.

when and what do you do for the triceps and shoulders? both of those muscles are used heavily during any upper body pressing exercises. if you are only training chest 1x every 7 days then you are definetly getting sufficient recovery between training sessions. it will help if you post your entire training program
