You still have 9 volts, but the current capability is 4 times greater than a single battery.
If you connected all the batteries in series; plus to minus, plus to minus, etc. THEN you would have 36 volts.

Even if it is just a cheap, Radio Shack 5000 ohms per volt multi-meter, you really do need one so that you can see for your self what you get when you do something such as what you have asked about. Seeing the voltage change, or stay the same is really a very good aid for learning. Your 4 batteries, as others have already stated is going to be 9 volts. The current capability of those 4 batteries however is now going to be about 360 Milli-amps, based on a capability of 90 milli-amps per battery.

Voltage adds in series, current adds in parallel. 4 9-volt batteries in parallel are still 9v, just higher current.
