None. The general public doesn't have the the opportunity to by machine guns. Class III licensees do, but that's expensive and not easily obtained.

If you are referring to a range that you can fire automatic weapons on, it depends on where you live, and what state you are in. Here in Maryland there are several indoor ranges that you can actually rent a machine gun to shoot by the hour and you pay for the ammunition you use as well. I know these ranges are not common all over the U.S. as these two I have in mind are the only ones I've ever heard of or know to exist in the U.S. I am sure there are others in other states, but I don't know anything about the other locations.

Sub-machine guns are NFA controlled weapons and can only be legally posessed in states that allow you to own one. There is a process/application that you must go thru to legally own one, and it is registered and highly restricted as far as use.

An M16 uses 5.56 mm ammo - but I would not call that a machine gun. An assault rifle, but not a machine gun.

There are no 5.56 submachine guns because a submachine gun fires pistol ammo and is a full-auto weapon.
