you're cheap dude. the price is not "outrageous" as you say it.
the 80GB is $499. Thats not "outrageous."
You are also not even counting the features the PS3 has that the
the 360 doesn't. The PS3 has blueray which xbox doesn't.
Theres alot of new games coming. The PS3 games take longer to release because sony takes the time to make the games better than 360's. Xbox live is about $50 a year. That's just a waste of money. PS3 has built-in wifi for free.
There's many other reasons I could list but I think dats enough
to make you understand that the PS3's price is not
"outrageous".

I think that the next time Sony drops the price of the PS3, it will be at least a year from now. When Sony drops the price again, I highly doubt that it will be a $100 dollar price drop. I mean, my God, Sony just barely dropped the price on the PS3, the price is low enough to me!
Also, people are buying the console and the price is not outragously high. The PS3 has the best and newest technology in the console and the price tag should be higher. The PS3's price tag will most likely always be higher than the Xbox 360's price. Plus the 40GB PS3's price is just $20 dollars more than the Xbox 360 Elite and it comes with more technology built in. The PS3 is a bargain if you add up all that comes with it.
I purchased my 60GB PS3 back in December for $685 dollars and I thought that I got a bargain and don't regret it. Sony has some of the best exclusive games coming for the PS3, and if you want to play those games your just going to pay more.

The PS3 has had $3 hundred in value cuts in 3 years. that's spectacular interior the video interest international. to boot to, Sony does not could desire to compete with the 360 in terms of value. The PS3 is advertising so right precise now human beings do no longer look to care that the 360 is larger value-smart, as Sony is having complication preserving PS3s in inventory on the retail shops (and that they in spite of the shown fact that anticipate grant to be very tight over genuine right here couple of months). i do no longer see yet yet another value decrease back for the PS3. Ever. right, no longer till finally the launch of the subsequent psand this could be some years away. Sony has no incentive to make anymore value cuts by way of certainty the perfect shopper base is happy with the present value (regardless what the competition is at).

Sony will most likely drop the PS3's price in the coming year. If for no other reason than to keep up with the 360's impending price drops next year, as well as trying to catch up to the Wii.
Hopefully the PS3's 2nd year won't be as chaotic in terms of new models and prices, but that probably won't be the case.
I could easily see the 40GB and 80GB PS3 models dropping at least $50 next year. I don't know if Sony can drop another $100 or not - but they practically have to in order to just keep their low end PS3 at the same predicted price of the 360 Elite by this time next year.
What remains to be seen is if Sony will continue to play this game of rolling configurations. This year alone we had the 20GB PS3 discontinued, the 60GB PS3 dropped in price, the 80GB PS3 introduced at the 60GB PS3's old price, then the 40GB PS3 introduced along with the 80GB PS3 now being priced at the same price as the 60GB PS3. Confused? I know the retailers must LOOOVE it!
The first 6 months of 2008 will be very telling for the PS3. In addition to all the games that got delayed from 2007 to 2008, Sony will also launch their Sony HOME network service for the PS3, as well as (finally!!) release the Dualshock3 controller with rumble (yay) in the US. Christmas 2007 is already going to be a slaughter for the PS3 due to its weak lineup of games, Halo3 on the 360, and Mario Galaxy on the Wii. If Sony can't pull off a good Christmas next year, I think there could be a very good chance the PS3 won't survive to see Christmas 2009. As it stands now, many developers are already very nervous about developing for the PS3 because the console just isn't selling which results in lower sales of PS3 games. If Sony can't convince developers to release games for the PS3, it's over.
After all, why would you buy a game console that has no games? Sure, the PS3 is a dandy blu-ray player, but you can be sure that by this time next year we'll be looking at $200 blu-ray players - which will be lower than what Sony can price the PS3 at without going totally bankrupt.

Actually, I think the price has gone down as much as it's going to until perhaps next Christmas. They won't start over, but they will add things to their system that they don't have now, like more online play and a rumble controller. The biggest issue I have with the PS3 right now is that it doesn't have many good games and is losing all their exclusives. Even the Xbox is going to have more content for GTA4 than the PS3 because of a new deal between Microsoft and Rockstar. With the lack of games, there is no good reason to purchase the PS3. Even people who say it looks awesome aren't being realistic. The PS3 really isn't capable of 1080p graphics, and so doesn't look any better than the Xbox 360, which uses a dual processor to better utilize its memory.

I hope they drop the price. I could afford it right now, but I'd rather get a 360, similar graphics and a good lineup of games but for a lot less money.
