The bible speaks of almost 200 commandments that the jews were made to follow because they had seen what the Lord had done for them. All the rest of us have the ten commandments that were written in stone to follow. The first 3 specify not to believe in other gods. The rest are rules that we wish everyone would abide by. So why is it that people can not seem to follow such easy commandments? Athiests, non believers go off on this tangent of how bad the Bible is when it is non believers that twist the words and break off and create their own interpretations. Wars are caused by man, not The word of God. Why do people make things complicated? Do you think the Lord is asking for too much? Is the sacrifice so great as to not believe?

If you read the New Testament you will see that the Law was never intended to bring a man to life, but rather as a diagnostic tool showing him how sin-sick he is. The only solution to man's problem is to be born again, born of the Holy Spirit, who then writes God's Laws upon your heart, and makes obeying God the (super)natural thing to do.

Ever since the Fall, we humans have been sinful at heart - it's our nature. Talk about being "bad to the bone!"

Since the Ten Commandments were given by God, and we ourselves have sinful natures that naturally goes against God, then our nature dictates that we would end up sinning. Whether it's unbelief or any other sin, it's sin, and we really can't help ourselves.

Anyway, the book of Romans in God's wonderful Word explains the point much better than I ever could.

And as for that thing about war, all the bad things here are a result of a world filled with sin. Being humans, we're unable to follow the Law to the letter - but doesn't that make you glad that God, knowing this, made sure that the Law was only a shadow of what was to come?

That, of course, brings us to the Gospel...

I hope this helps!

Wars are created by men, but more of those wars have been fought under the guise of God's Will than for any other reason.

Easy commandments? What is the fourth commandment? Did you abide by it last Sabbath?

The Hebrews HAD to have God "lay down the law." God established government, economy, health care, the list goes on-and-on. Over many years, Religious conservatives twisted Gods intentions and made His rules Religious. Jesus tried to explain the error of their ways. This, obviously, was futile. Jesus gave us two standards: 1) Love God with all your heart and soul. 2) Love your neighbor as you would love yourself.

Religious people have twisted and turned the Ten Commandments for years and years. Atheists are haughty because of the example set by us Christians. We are no different today than the Pharisees and Saducees that crucified Jesus.

Just be careful when you try to imply that you follow the Ten Commandments. Nobody, Christian or otherwise, does. Otherwise, would we have needed Jesus?

You are in error regarding the ten commandments. They are the core of the old covenant, and indeed are even referred to as that covenant.

Covenants have parties to them, and often they are like contracts. A marriage covenant is a good example, and Paul uses it to explain the old and new covenant in Romans 7.

The parties to the ten commandment covenant were the children of Israel and God. Christians and other people then and now were never a party to that covenant. The ONLY provision in that covenant for those not of Israel to become a party to that covenant was through circumcision. It was established by the council in Jerusalem found in Acts 15 that Gentile Christians were not required to undergo circumcision or keep the law.

You also need to understand there is a big difference between "keeping" the law or commandments and "fulfilling" the law or commandments. Keeping is just complying with them. To fulfill them requires one to have love for another person and do good accordingly for that person.

Christ fulfilled the law; that covenant. He healed people on sabbaths, for example. He broke the letter of the law and fulfilled the spirit of that law of the sabbath. His were acts of love and mercy.

We either learn the lessons given to us in Scripture, or we are doomed to repeat the mistakes others have made in this regard.

It's one word: change.

The Word of God demands change. It demands leaving behind your former life (especially the bad parts) and taking on a new life in Him. Unfortunately, most people are so steeped into and hard-hearted that they will continue on their destructive path no matter who it hurts, even if if hurts themselves. So they create excuse after excuse, attack the bible, the Church, rewrite the rules (reinvent the wheel), twist turn and squirm in every way you can think of to avoid change, to avoid God. That's why we have so much chaos.

I commend you. You question is simple, to the point, and right. The Commandments were written by the Almighty, and following them leads to life - not just here, but after this life as well. So then, who in their right mind would not want to follow them? ARE people in their right minds?

God bless.

1) Get a "cuss" jar. Every time you cuss, put a dime in it! At the end of a month, take that change and give it to a church! But you have to be honest w/yourself! 2)If you have to work on Sabbath, take off a day during the week and attend an evening service at church. 3) Parents need to limit and monitor what children watch. You can screen what you watch, too, by not watching any of those ads! Self-control does wonders.

How many break the commandment , Thou shalt not commit adultery ?
When a vow is made in your god's name , how serious is it ?
" Forsake all others 'till death do us part ". Notice is does not say " divorce do us part , - - -death "
Breaking one of the commandments , or a vow on God's name will land you where it's real warm .
Forget forgiveness . We're here for a test . It's not a real test unless you take it all up to the judgement bench .
Be sure to take a few fans with you .

Do not bathe a baby goat in it's mother's milk.
What could be simpler?

Wars caused by man are often in the name of their God.

The bible echoes the same laws set down in the Code of Hammurabi almost 1800 years earlier.

Written in stone? Well, only one of the three versions, which isn't the version used in church.

Confusing.
