The beginning of wisdom is fear of the lord,to understand is to depart from Evil.
So evidence of understanding god's way is departing from evil.so most religions and ways of man has no real understanding,yet man says I understand but really doesn't??

Do positive things in this world, and avoid doing harmful things and you will do fine with God. Fear is good and keeps you from doing things that are bad for you, less you get in serious trouble.

Understanding is a relative issue. To know of God is not the same as knowing God. So it is right to say you know how to do good or evil but it is only to the degree of your understanding.
