I had adhd, disregard there wonderful assumptions. Second lady was almost there. Adhd is a social learning disorder, because of which we become extremely frustrated when obstacles get in our way, don't let him. That aside you should be a BIG part of his learning experience, I don't care if he is a teenager. You need to make sure he takes care of his homework, doesn't neglect school, and bet him down when he decides to get out of control. The important thing, teach him how to socialize right, its a consequence of an under-develop or an over stimulated frontal lobe, teaching him to control this is the key, so you should NEVER loss control. Going to be hard on you, ether he's always had it, or this is a product of something else, that's starting to show itself. But people don't truly understand adhd because they don't understand the mind, medication itself isn't the key, teaching him how to control his frustrations and concentrate his mind is the key!

You can't. Also it is important to be able to distinguish between his disorder, if he has been diagnosed, and just plain teen obstinacy, which is very common. Also do not neglect to punish him for bad behavior, disorder or no...he is still aware of what he does and says. He might try to take advantage of this condition by doing things he knows he should not do, so be aware of that also.
