Are we fighting amongst ourselves and therefore, in complete control of when to start and stop the battle? Last I saw we were fighting insurgents in Iraq, if we stop fighting them, will they stop fighting too?

If that was the case, why not convince them to stop the war instead.

If we stop fighting in this war, they will keep on fighting..finding diff ways to rid the USA.

We must not leave Iraq war till they are more established.

President Bush is not at fault, ....He just happened to be the President at the time of 9-11.
Getting tired of ppl blaming the President for everything without fully understanding.

If we stop fighting them they probably will not stop fighting too, since they do not trust the government we have put in place. This thing isn't going to end soon, or well.

By the way, "insurgents" have been shown to be mostly Iraqi citizens. A lot of people don't realize that. We're at war with a rebel force of Iraqis.

Essentially we are supplying military force to one side of another country's civil war (that we started). Their civil war is pretty small potatoes compared to our own civil war, but that's essentially what it is.

Look up information about the documentary "Meeting Resistance" if the link to the New York Times article below doesn't work.

A quick history lesson would tell you that this turmoil in the Middle East has existed long before the United States has as a country. A civil war has constantly been taking place there. So, why are we throwing ourselves in the pot as well? If we really went to AFGHANISTAN to find the terrorists behind 9/11, then why the hell are we now in Iraq? To give the Taliban more time to rebuild there force in Afghanistan? We need to get the hell out of there and let them keep killing each other off. Why not lower the violence in the US or Darfur for gods sake?

First of all -- the US is not at war. Congress never declared any war -- so, there is no war for the US to end.

But since you're talking about the US occupation of Iraq -- that's very simple -- it's not our fight. We're not one of the sides of the conflict -- we're just sticking our nose into the middle of someone else's civil war.

Most Iraqi's don't want us there -- starting with the insurgents who don't like the govt we established in Iraq -- but many of the non-insurgents also don't want us there. Even the Iraqi govt has expressed anger at some of the things we've done.

So, very few Iraqis want us there -- and we gain nothing by being there -- it doesn't help US interests at all -- it just costs us in lives and manpower.

The insurgents in Iraq are only fighting the US because we insist on fighting them -- if we left, their civil war would continue -- because we're not one of the sides. But no more US lives would be lost in a conflict that has nothing to do with us and doesn't help us.

If we stop fighting them, they will fight each other. There were no insurgents in Iraq before we invaded that country. We have lost 3839 American lives,,,for what? It don't matter if we leave today, next week, next month or next year, we will leave behind a civil war. This war has been and is about oil. It would have been less expensive with lives (Ours & Iraqis) & money if we just would have bought the oil & not try to take it by force.

Well, if we're not there it's going to make it a lot harder for them to fight with US. instead the various insurgent groups and the Iranians and Shiites and the Sunni's will all just go on fighting with each other. We probably won't even be missed.

However, we'll have an extra $200 BILLION dollars per year that we didn't flush down a toilet. Hmmmm.....what to do...

this is not a war - it is an invasion.

so why would people want it to stop

1. we are killing innocent people
2. we are killing ourselves
3. we are selling our country to finance this war

and last but not least

this is what is really happening - we are transferring our wealth and our power to corporate interests that have no loyalty to their country - OUR COUNTRY.

so you are patriotic - take back our country.

we have betrayed our country we have sold out to defense contractors in the name of fear - we have lost our freedom - this war was over before it began.

china now owns us - what will you do when it is time for them to collect? declare war on them to?

I do not promote ending the war on terror. We don't need 150000 troops to monitor a Democracy in the making. Get out and draw them to Afghanistan and kill them there.

They want us to lose. Always have. It's the same people who made us run from Viet Nam. They want to tear the country in half again. These people hate America.

let them kill more american soldiers

and let's keep cutting jobs at home! (since were wasting so much damn money that the markets are down)

and let's not have a good national guard at home so we cannot deal with emergencies like the california fires!
