I have heard about JVC and I have never owned one. How is it? I heard it was an ok brand but not the best out there. The reason I ask is because I saw a receiver I wanted for my car but I didn't know if it was a good brand.

It all depends what product your are buying. In the past, JVC has made some great products with excellent quality as well as products with border line quality.

It is not like Sony where you can depend on the name. After saying that, I consider JVC name as middle of the road when it comes to quality. It will not disappoint you but at times you will not be feeling great either. Check the Consumer Report for the specific item and see where JVC is placed.

The JVC stands for Japan Victor Corp. and used to be a subsidiary of RCA. I don't know if they still are or are now independent. I have owned several JVC stereo and TV units over the years and have always found them to be good products.

jvc just like most brands has its more/less expensive models. look at what the receiver does, in most cases higher cost is due to more options not just better quality. get the one that fills your needs.

i personally like the pioneer premier models, but then again that is what i use in my car
