Does the FBI have to inform the local Government that they will be doing operations in their jursidiction? Like say, if the FBI was going to raid a house in a town, would the FBI have to coordinate with the police of that town or does the local or states laws have no bearing on FBI operations. I hope my question is clear enough.

They are not required to.......... but they would.

Any Federal, State or County law enforcement agency is not required by any law to notify local police of any raid or operation they are doing, but they would let them know.

Why?

Because of officer safety concerns. The last thing anyone would want is for something like this to go down and for some poor street cop to come around the corner and see someone holding someone else at gun point. If that poor cop didn't know this was another law enforcement officer it could get really hairy.

Also, they would want all the back up and resources they can get.

The only time that they would NOT notify is if the police them self are the target of the operation.

Yes, they would, because it is there jurisdiction, and that way they would know what was going on, and if they needed back-up, they could easily provid it if needed. Also they have to inform them so they know it is legal, cause anybody could put on a FBI shirt and hat and go into your house and show a fake badge, so this is another reason they have to inform them to show that it is really them and show what cause or what order they are going in on.

They may in some cases, but they are not mandated to do so. If they feel that informing the locals will jeopardize their case, then they don't.

This can foster an "us vs. them" mentality in many local police jurisdictions when dealing with the feds.
