Okay, so I've decided that I'm going to make a move in the next few years to Canada or New Zealand. I'm embarrassed to live in the U.S. anymore, although I do live in one of the best cities (SF). Anyway - to get to my question...if I have a child in New Zealand do they automatically become NZ citizens? I know in Austrailia the kid has to be 10 before getting citizenship. I went to the immigration website and I couldn't find anything...Are you a U.S citizen living in NZ and what has your experience been like?

From 1 January 2006, children born in New Zealand will acquire New Zealand citizenship at birth only if at least one of their parents is a New Zealand citizen or has permanent residency.
