...All the memorabilia sales, ticket sales, ratings, and the two major fan rivals (Jeff and Jr) being in the same equipment makes for more intense racing. Think Nascar might have had some influence in getting Jr to go to Hendricks?

I hate to say it, but NASCAR has changed so drastically and become so money hungry. While I can't for certainty it was a real legitiment factor...I still wouldn't put it past them.

They may both be in Hendrick cars, but the #48 and the #24 are out of the same shop, and they have been much more successful than the #5 and the #25 which are out of another shop. I don't look for that to change. I still think Gordon is the best driver in NASCAR and Chad Knaus (#48) is the best crew chief, and I don't see much change in 2008. I think Hendrick signed Earnhardt as a business move which had nothing to do with NASCAR management.

I don't think so Tina. I think if anything NA$CAR would probably like to see Gordon and Jiminy split up to different teams.
I think Jr wanted to get away from the T word and this would be away that if he was ever going too be on a team owned by someone that knows what they are doing.
I think he probably thought about about going with Childress for about half a second once he found out about the engine deal with TEI.
Also I think he has enough pressure on him to try and do somewhere near what his Dad did. Even though he says he doesn't it has to play with him just a bit.
Also I look for him to maybe go to the RCR team to drive that car if everything turns out good at RH.

One other thing Tina but I am not sure if you are familiar with other motor sports but the are some series that when a car or team starts winning like Hendricks cars do they make them add weight to try and even the field out. I am not sure if we want NA$CAR to try and bring this rule into play as poor as there decisions have been in the past

No, I don't think NASCAR had squat to do with Jr's move. Jr wants to win and it doesn't take a genius to figure out which team gives you the best opportunity to do that. I DO think that the number and sponsor changes were more motivated by the sale of new merchandise. I think Rick could have gotten the 8 from Teresa if he was willing to compensate her and Bud would have been a fool to walk away from Jr if he was still willing to promote Anheuser Busch.

I think the rivalry was more intense with them driving for different teams, I see any rivalry as being less after this move so I don't see any reason for Nascar to want what has happened.

One reason for the ratings drop is Jr not making the chase, it seems Nascar has a larger interest in that.

Interesting point, but, no, I don't think so. I think they have enough with Jeff and Jimmie on the same team. They get a lot of complaints about it being the HMS chase for the Cup. I think Jr. just went where the $$$$$ is, and who could blame him. They can finance a car he can win in.

Go Jr.>>>>

Hmm....good point you brought up there....As far as NASCAR wanting there to be a super team with 2 of the best driver and the most popular driver might be something about money. Im not sure how but there probably is. Im not saying JR didnt decide to go there but I think NASCAR is glad he did. I think it was a good move and hopefully he can pull of a spot into the chase next year.....Go Stewart!

Nope, interesting theory... Jr wants to win races and have a shot at winning the championship, several teams were after him..But he picked HMS himself, why not pick the best.. I think alot of people was surprised at this most thought he would go to JGR or RCR.. I'm glad he is at HMS... There could even be a backlash with this as well..Alot of people are upset that HMS wins all the times already. Next yr with Jeff, Jimmie, Jr winning, and lets not forget Casey he can win also, alot of people could say why bother watching the race, just another HMS driver will win, I know alot of Dale Jr fans that do not support his move at all....I think its going to be interesting seeing how this all plays out next yr, Rick is going to have his hands full with these 3 top guns, and all of them are determined to win...I think its going to be so intense seeing how this all plays out....How man days till speed weeks in Daytona in 2008?????? I'm like Jr I wish it were this weekend....Bring it on...Hey with Nascar declining some in popularity maybe this will be just what it needs.. I'm sure the media people are going to have a field day with this next yr...

Go Dale Jr & HMS in 2008.

Not really.... NASCAR, HMS and Jr are already making BIG $$$ hand over fist. So there is no political motivation on Nascar's part of him leaving DEI and looking for work elsewhere.

It's an interesting idea, but I find no evidence to make that leap.

Imagine Gordo, JJ, and Jr. fighting it out for a title. Then let us not forget all the other guys- but HMS will be a very interesting place next year.

As a fan of HMS guys, I can't say I'll miss ol' what's his name.....maybe Stewart will straighten him out.

Jr's step mother has a majoity of the closed stock (family owned, not on the NASDAQ). In other word's she has the final vote on how the company is run, so he bailed. HMS is paying him better than his own company. NASCAR had nothing to do with it.
