If you have an infestation in your house, you don't need to eat a certain food. What you need to do is to wash bedding and everything in your house and vacuum well. Then I would go and get flea bombs to put into each room of your house and set them off and leave the house. The instructions on the cans tell you to cover the counters with newspapers, have all food put away, etc. We have used them and it was the best thing that we ever did! I am allergic to fleas, so we did a thourgh job. You may have to retreat your pets. Good luck!

The best thing to do is to treat the dog with Frontline Plus, wash the blankets the dogs lay on, vacuum the carpet (throw out the bag) and spray the areas your dogs like to lay down (Frontline also produces a spray).
One thing about fleas. If your garden or yard stays warm during the full year, fleas can reinfest your dogs from being outside so you need to keep up with the flea control year round and probably treat the yard too.
Supposedly garlic is effective, but it sounds like wishful thinking to me.

sorry Bunny, you are wrong about the banana think keeping mosquito's and fleas off, read up on this, Bannanas attract Mosquito's so does the color Blue...
I am very allergic to fleas, they bite me before anyone else, a doctor told me once that fleas are like sharks, they can smell blood from far off, and some people have veins so close to their skin that the blood smell is radiated out faster, certain types too, I am B + must like that a lot.

i have the same problem when i go to my mums they have 4 cats and they don't ever get bit but every time i do u can try creams and lotions that's about all that will work but it will be trial and error with those if its that much trouble - you may have to get rid of the cats. good luck ( food and tablets don't make no difference ) that doesn't work flea bombs - tried it at mums - what a waste of money - there are regularly treated for fleas and the house is spotless. ( even the furniture and carpets )

I ran across a dog biscuit recipe that used brewer's yeast to keep fleas off your dogs. Humans can eat brewer's yeast, but I'm not sure how you'd eat it. I'll do a search and see if I can come across the recipe, again. It might give you some ideas.
***** added info *****
Here's a site that has a no flea recipe (and uses brewer's yeast). It isn't the one I ran into before.

Here's a site that talks about garlic and brewer's yeast. Scroll down to tip # 7. Try a nutrician store to see if they have garlic and brewer's yeast tablets for people.

I take garlic pills for that, but you need to get them out of the house. Sprinkle salt all over your carpet, leave it on for half an hour, then vacuum it up. Wash all throw rugs and put the throw pillows out in the sun for a few hours. Wash the bedding, too.
