LOVE that movie. Very sad that they were so mistreated in the end...
Favorite part is at the wedding when the guys are doing that dance, that is neat. I think my favorite is Tevyah. He reminds me a lot of my father-in-law.
It's a great movie and tells a great story.

Barbara Streisand only has one child...a son by her first husband Elliott Gould. And I liked the movie. My favorite part was Tevye's Dream. I liked Yentel too.
EDIT: Sarcastic little thing aren't you? And NO, Molly Picon (Yente) was not her SISTER either. Her birth name is MaÅka Opiekun and not related to Barbara Streisand.

One of the best plays/movies ever written. The spectator must understand the Jewish tradition in order to best appreciate the play. The girls were marrying outside the established traditions. The first married a proper Jew but it was not of the father's choosing. The second married a radical Jew definitely not of the father's choosing. The third married a Russian, completely outside of the Jewish covenant with God. This was unforgiveable and Tevye could not compromise his beliefs to that extent. However, at the end of the movie he does relent and acknowledges that little Chavilah is his daughter and grants her his blessing in so far as he is able to give it. On top of that simple surface story of daughters getting married, there is the tradition of waiting for the Messiah to come. Their traditions are important to them because that is what keeps them in touch with their relationship with God. They believe that they must follow their traditions in order to stay right with God. They may not know the origin of those traditions, having been lost over the centuries, but they cling to them as tightly as they can so as to keep themselves right with God insofar as they are able.
Entertaining and educational, who could ask for anything more.

I think the movie, the play, and the stories on which they're based are wonderful! When I had a chance to run the drama program at the last school I was at, Fiddler was the first show we put on. It was a blast!
