Depends on how much you eat. Getting fat is always the result of consuming more calories than you burn. Even though there is no fat in fat-free food items, they still contain calories. If you eat more of anything - including fat-free items such as cottage cheese and yogurt - than you burn, eventually you will get fat.

Hope this helps.

I don't think it's a dumb question at all. Ignore those people commenting. Fat Free food like diet desserts have more sugar to compensate for the lost of flavor in the fat.
Fat Free cottage cheese is better for you, but it's still got carbs. If you eat an excessive amount of carbs you could still gain weight.
I don't think that there is any such thing as calorie-free yogurt.
And I dont know if this is what you are saying, but you should have a variety of foods, not just these items. 4-5 small meals and snacks low in carbs and fat and high in fiber are best to lose weight.

Read the labels of what you're eating. A LOT of yogurt has a ton of sugar in it, even though it's fat free but people still think its healthy. Fat free means nothing without more info. Most candy is fat free. Unless you're eating., greek style yogurt (Trader Joes!), I think cottage cheese also has higher protein content.

Note: I'm answering the fat free question - not the specifics. In the question details you said "calorie free" - that's impossible.

Everything is based on quantities and proportions. If you eat a large (very large) amount of those and never exercise - then you're going to gain weight, however if you eat nothing but pure fat and exercise an insane amount, you might not gain weight.

Cottage cheese or yogurt will not make you fat it is the amount that you eat that makes you gain weight. Personally I think anything fat-free tastes horrid.

If you eat an abnormal amount of it, you could gain weight. Fat is not the only part of food that is metabolized and stored as fat in your body. If you eat a balanced diet, however, you should be fine. Stick to 2000-2500 calories or less overall per day.

It's been proven repeatedly that it's all about calorie intake vs calorie expenditure. Eat a lot of calories of any type without burning an equal amount, and you'll gain. Burn more than you eat, and you'll lose. Easy to say, hard to do.

Good luck.

Eating too much of anything will make you fat.

It isn't just fat, it's the calories. Just because something is fat free doesn't mean you can eat an excessive amount of it.

I've seen shows where some women are trying to lose alot of weight by a certain day so they eat that as a breakfast replacement, and lunch replacement. And she lost the weight. I'll let you decide.

I believe you can eat anything you want, if you only eat small portions. Eat every three hours, and you will never be hungry, but the portions must be very small. When you eat enough to make you full before you stop, you have eaten to much.
