becuase morality is no more than a social structure that is defined by what is right and wrong for those existing under that social structure.

gorillas have a social structure that is different from ours, we have a social structure different from ants, and ants have a social structure different from muslims.

all thier respective "rules of behavior" in each society, which can be broken and have consequences arise out of that social structure.

however while in animal societies these are learned or taught, we have felt the need to codify ours in a number of writings and ways, just as the ancient people codified thiers in a book that was a collection of stories about man-eating whales and nude people eating fresh fruit.

Morals are the 'social contract' so virtually any animal that has a group dynamic or social hierarchy has a 'moral' code. (albeit primitive)

Religion arises from the existential crisis brought on by the capacity to foresee ones own inevitable death.

The Gorillas don't have religion because they aren't smart enough to consider their lives pointless.

Once they are smart enough though, the happy Gorillas that believe in a higher Gorilla purpose will out breed the depressed ones that think it's all meaningless. And Gorillas will have religion.

You can train animals to behave. That is true. Animals can pick up certain behaviors naturally. That is true. I can program a computer to say nice things about you. We are all trained since infancy by the society we live in to behave in certain ways.

But morality has to include rationality. What is the reason behind what you do? And we do care. If you only do your good deeds for hope of reward, that's being a suckup. If you only do your good deeds out of fear, that is being a coward. Morality is doing the right thing for the right reason.

Morality is merely a code of behavior, an inherent understanding between right and wrong. Rather than questioning the 'religion' of the great apes, question what alternate ideologies drives morality if religion does not exist.

Gorillas and dogs are smarter than man. They have a built in instinct to obey God's laws. They fear man because they know God favors man. Satan doesn't worry about tempting animals because Satan even knows that God favors man. Only man forgets God.

Revelation 5:13 John heard this in heaven
And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I SAYING, Blessing, and honor, and glory, and power, be unto him that sits upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.

Verse 14 And the four beasts said, Amen. And the four and twenty elders fell down and worshiped him that lives for ever and ever.

That gorilla and my dog will one day raise their voice and praise the Lord.

The Word of God says that even the earth moans and groans because of the curse of sin upon it.

Your question infers religion & morals are linked--which is a false assumption. The Biblical morals--of stoning people to death--or condemning people to eternal punishment displays a distinct lack of morals.

Did you know that Gorillas will gather around unique natural formations like water falls and exhibit all the outward appearances of awe and worship???

They don't have "morals" they have a basic society structure. They cooperate within their own group, and defend themselves from other groups. That is the same thing all human "morals" are derived from - behavior that helps you & your species survive.

Gorillas have MORE morals than humans!

I have never heard of gorillas vaporizing hundreds of thousands of other gorillas with a bomb.
